Default My spidey sense is tingling

I know Jags a lot of times don't hold much resale value, because they're Jags...however, with this being a much newer design with better quality than the Jags of old and being a more rare model, something tells me this price is a little low, especially being from a car lot.

2003 Jaguar S-Type R Series

Anyone happen to live down near Birmingham and seen this car in person maybe? I'm considering selling my 300ZXTT and want to pick up something a bit more refined with some cool gadgets, because I still have a 240Z for old school import muscle to sling around in corners and stuff, but for a daily I want something a bit more sleek. I've had a boner for XJRs forever, but do like the lines of the S-types as well. And something tells me this might be a little too cheap, but figured you guys would know in a second.

Probably has a salvage title and a bunch of problems. If not, that's a pretty good deal; but when it seems to good to be true, it usually is.

Duh, didn't even think of salvage titles. I may have to just call them tomorrow and request some information since I'm 2 hours away or so and can't just drive across town and check it out leisurely. Why can't Chattanooga have more of the nice cars I like instead of the abundance of Mustangs and Camaros :-(

Looks like the drivers side exhaust pipe is pushed in, kinda a red flag in my book. Also could be the pic but the drivers side rocker panel looks pulled out under the rear passenger door.

Rocker panel could be result of improper jacking. Good Eye, Rick

It may just be winter time plus a combo of higher mileage older model. I buy every used car knowing that I will have to replace a couple of things that I missed in the inspection no matter how through I am (and when I buy a car I even have one of the cheap boroscopes to check out things).

Go over the car good, have a car guy friend look at it with you and check everything out. Title, car fax, service history, ect.

It probably needs one of the crapper things service on the STR, like coolant hose below SC leaking or such. The CATS electronic shocks, Electronic park brake, leaking gas tank, broken headlights that wont level and some others can all be huge cost items if you can not turn your own wrench.

Interesting to see you also have a 300zx TT. I have a 94, and like it a lot.

That would be a fantastic deal if the car had a outstanding srvice record and didnt need anything to keep it on the road.

I have the exact same car 2003 STR, and the list of what I have had to do to keep her rolling just in the last year is mind boggeling!!

I love my car and have thoughts or desires to sell her so its more a labor of love, but I can tell you at 128K on the clock, the transmission is probably on borrowed time. Most of the older STRs didnt get proper trans flush / fill / filter changes due to the dealer and their stupid nonsense about the gearbox being sealed for life...

I had mine fully serviced at 75K and I have never run her hard or J-gated her much over the years, but I just dropped $5,000 on a new transmission about 6 weeks ago because it was having some severe shifting issues and and I was told the valve body in the 2003's had major issues from the factory and as a result it was immediately changed for th 2004 and up models...

Just some food for thought...

Its the front plate. Those things kill the value. LOL. If there is nothing wrong with that then that is an awesome deal. If I could of found a deal like that then I would of bought that and my truck when I sold my 05.
Typically those smaller car lots like that are overpriced so I would definitely check everything on that if it's priced that cheap.
Their reviews are horrible may want to stay away.

I called them just about 10 minutes ago at 6:15 EST but I guess they close at 5. I was too busy today pulling the motor outta my 240Z to go call a car lot.

So you guys are saying this car costs just as much to play with as my 300ZXTT? Oh man you guys had to go and ruin it for me didn't ya?

Matt, she's cheap and you turn wrenches. I'm betting she's a diamond in the rough. It's very easy to total a car like this and tag a salvage title on her after a moderate amount of bodywork. May be nothing wrong but a past accident that insurance totaled. Check her out.

Eh I would rate the STR at a 8 on the bullshit scale with the 300zx TT being a 9, and an Audi 2.7 Bi turbo a 10.

My STR has had a couple of issues but nothing major so far, and nothing I would not expect for a car coming up on 100,000 mi.

My Z on the other hand has a bunch of nagging issues that are all serious. I did know what I was getting into when I bought it though.

I'd buy it for myself or 15 year old son. She looks nice and a salvage title wouldn't stop me. Why? She has 135k miles on the clock! Who cares what she would bring in a few years when it has 170k miles on her clock? $70k of 400 chp supercharged- high torque kitties bathed in the lap of luxery? For $5k? Pick this semi-exotic and muscular bitch up for $5k and have some fun! S(*&! One can pick up a 125 chp s(^% box Toyota Corolla for more!? OP! Buy that STR! Stat!

I'd read the reviews on that place around. After a few google searches a lot of people having trouble even just getting titles from cars bought there and a lot of other issues with them also. Even if it was a good deal that's not something I would deal with. I bought a boat that a dealership screwed up the title work. After the temp expired a month later, it took two years to finally get it situated with the dealer cause they didn't care since I was already in possession and the bank had already paid them their money. I drove the boat illegally just to enjoy it but I was always sweating when I saw patrol boats out because I had no registration numbers because of it. It would suck to buy it and just have it sitting as a lawn ornament because you can't get it plated because of title issues. All my issue was was a paperwork crossing where my vin had went to another identical boat bought the next day and theres just got lost. So basically this guy had the registration and title for my boat and I had nothing. Turned into threat of sueing and tons of hoops to get it situated enough that I just got rid of the boat after getting it done.

Def. demand to examine the title before purchasing anything.
