Thanks!

I'm not sure if you ran into the issue I did...There was no way to get to the bottom bolt for the intake elbow with that fitting installed.

I had to pull it out to get a 10mm socket on the bolt then screw it back in once I got that torqued down.

I did use a single piece of 1/4 inch fuel line all the way to the brake booster check valve. I used a sharp knife and slit the plastic off the valve and fed the hose along the firewall.

Photo of the vacuum line under the throttle body coolant hoses.

Routed the rubber hose all the way to the brake booster..

There was one other situation I had to deal with..

Someone did me the favor of cross threading the nut onto the EGR stud in the exhaust manifold. I tried putting in a vice...nope..

Luckily I had a M8 bolt in my toolbox that was the right size and pitch.

Onward!

Is that hose rated for vacuum duty?

I'm not sure..but it has an SAE rating of J30R7.

That's the reason I used braided fuel line ILO vacuum hose. The set up is not in a PCV environment.

I have been up to the same task. Used the same fitting as well before I saw Catfan01's post. Except I was standing upside down on the planet to Carfan01!
Good point about not been able to access the below bolt with that fitting in place.
I reused the original plastic hose but trimmed it to suit. I have yet to install the supercharger/air intake elbow but I cannot see any issues with this fitting in place.
For all those that want to do the same and use that brass fitting it is a 'Jamec style brass male hose tail barb BSP thread air fitting'. 1/4 inch barb x 3/8 " BSP thread (British Standard Pipe). Its about $7. I think the recommended drill size to drill the hole for that BSP size is a 31/64" which I used initially but I had to go up one size to a 1/2" drill bit to be able to get MOST not all of that factory brass insert out. I did not want to go any bigger in drill size for fear of too large a hole for the 3/8" BSP thread.
So I let the tap do all the work in removing the thin remains of the brass insert.
The tap I used was a high quality (Japanese made) 3/8" 19TPI BSPT 'Bottom'. Required a bit of leverage but pushed out that factory brass fitting.
To reuse the original plastic air hose requires making its hole larger otherwise it wont fit over the 1/4" barb. I first inserted a 15/64" drill bit which I turned by hand to shave off some plastic in the air hose hole and then went up to a 1/4" drill bit to make the hole even bigger. You need to insert the drill bits deep enough as the same length as the barb.

Thin remains of factory brass insert pushed out by tap after using 1/2" drill bit.

Factory brass insert still in place. I think after 31/64" drill bit in this photo.

Hole tapped and new fitting ready to go.

Amount of factory plastic hose cut.

I have yet to put mine back but I think at this point it may be easier to reinstall the supercharger without the air intake elbow so you can tighten that rear supercharger bolt to the block and then install the air intake elbow (as per workshop manual). That way of course makes tightening the air intake elbow bottom LHS bolt without been able to see it. Also I noticed these air intake elbow bolts change from a regular head to a hex head; perhaps for this reason.

Regular head air intake elbow bolt on my 2002.5 STR.

Not sure if these hex head bolts were in the later cars to mine? May have been in the earlier cars to mine?
Does anyone know the part number for the seal on these bolts. The workshop manual says to replace them when replacing the Intake Elbow to Supercharger Gasket. I have the gasket but cannot find the seals anywhere.

I started to try and find these rubber seals but soon gave up. Similar reason to you as they seemed impossible to source on their own and I think I had to buy the bolts again or maybe I had to change to the latter (worse in my opinion) style bolts with the hex head due to unavailability; which I did not want to do.
I bought a heap of genuine gaskets for this job but as I think I may have previously mentioned I used all the original gaskets again, except for the EGR valve base where it meets the exhaust as that was the only one that really looked suspect. All the others were in excellent condition. Aside of the 'poor longevity' of some of the plastic plugs the gaskets are quite high quality parts which is a nod to the designers.
I was very careful in removing and cleaning all the gaskets gently. I did break three of the usual Ford plugs/clips (locking tabs actually) that were exposed to high heat but I couldn't be bothered re soldering/splicing better condition/new ones back in. Some high quality cloth electrical tape has held them in place very well. Fair to say these plugs/clips broke from the years of heat exposure just by trying to remove them..
I did also snap the long convulated air tube outer plastic circle where it meets the supercharger inlet elbow. Again due to its compromised state from lots of heat on this plastic part but I must admit I did make some hose placement errors along the way which required removal and replacement of this air tube a few times so that did not help.. The outer plastic circle did repair very well with the high quality Loctite 'Especially for Plastics' superglue. Its the one that comes with the felt pen that you prime the plastic surface with first.
I do little mileage but over the last few months I have been paying careful attention to any leaks and have given the car a bit of curry over this time. So far so good.
The supercharger specialist here (Harrop Engineering) who I got to change the oil, clean and give the unit a once over seemed happy with placing these rubber gasket-ed bolts back in; no problem despite one or two of these rubber gaskets appearing to have some separation splits in the rubber.
Unless they are very perished I would clean and reuse them.

Thanks Jya, I now know that they probably do not exist on their own and so I have cleaned and reused the original ones. I will know if all is well tomorrow when I start her up for the first time since replacing the Coolant hoses and EGR Valve. Again many thanks for your detailed reply.
