I was taking a little break and thought I would take a look for something obvious near the battery

That's the Rear park distance control module.

Take care,

You da'MAN! RIck! Absolutely nothing but props intended your way in that post, do hope it came across that way. But honestly, if all that crap went wrong at once on one o' my two gals' rides, I'd have to dangle the GMDS keys in front of 'em, tell 'em to expect to be down a month, if I can pull that forward it'll be "goodness" and please check the oil daily, as it is self-changing. (Naturally, they'd take my VDP from me and I'd be adding oil to the Merc every night before wrenching on the "S"

I lost focus and thought you guys stretched across two weekends due to running down the proper coils. It's also a bit of a miracle you didn't land on the sofa due to lack of participating in "cleaning up the house" or all the other variations of "helping me get ready for this child's party" that you couldn't possibly have had time to do.....

Again, you sir, have my snappiest, sharpest military salute!

No offense taken!

I have noticed that in the attachment doagrams I have posted they "rotate" to different (off subject) diagrams, hmmm that website I use is pretty tricky.

I used alldatadiy (I think this is the one you are using?) in the past for '98 Windstar and the 91 Merc. Good site, never really steered me wrong, my only complaint was having to pay every year.....I'm cheap...

ahol I went with the 5 year plan on the S Type, I figured we would have it for atleast a couple of years and I was right. Much cheaper that way.

George I haven't really messed with it yet. I know alldata and navigate it very easily! I will do some comparison, when I am sitting around dorkin' myself with a icee cold Amstel Light.

I for one would like to hear your thoughts. I couldn't get the downloaded version of JTIS to work despite my best efforts. No computer wizard here. So I bought a DVD version off ebay. Then I realized I don't have a DVD drive. Told you..no wizard here. So off to Staples for a cheap DVD player to plug into the USB. Then I still wasn't having any joy getting it to work until I read the Read Me info. Downloaded some program off the disc and now it works fine. But I was expecting a lot more specific instruction. Seems a lot of car is missing from the manual but then I'm used to reading paper manuals for older cars.

All I gotta say is if I have this much trouble with the manual...woe is me if I have a problem with this car!

Bodyman,

JTIS is poorly organized and sometimes cryptic in nature. If you'll spend a few hours paging through it, you'll discover how to best utilize its functions and you'll be able to find 85% or so of what you need. I know that's not how you want to spend your spare time, but if you'll do it, you will be rewarded....

We've got your back on the manual and the car.... It's just a car like anything else. Heck your engine is basically a Ford Escape / Taurus / Contour Duratec 3.0 with a different intake manifold on it. A LOT of Ford parts crossover, so if you ever need anything let us know. I've been pretty good about sourcing the crossover parts so far.

Take care,

George

Yeah, the windshield washer pump has the Ford logo and part number right on it.
