Default NAV x400 vs x350

Hey Guys got a question for you that I tried to find in the threads but could not find.

When you press and hold the phone button and the menu button and enter the diagostic screen, on the top of the screen it displays x400.

I think the x400 or x350 is almost a bit like a trim level. by this I mean you have certain functionality on the x350 that you dont have on the x400 (or vise versa?) I believe a few of these might be the mirror dip on reverse or global up on fob etc.

My question is two fold:

1. Am I correct in what i described above or am I way off?
2. Also on the diagnostic screen is a button for s/w (software) upgrade. when I push the button it says something like "please insert a software updrade DVD. Does that mean you can upgrade to the X350?

Finally, does anybody know if the 05 stype with the 4.2L has 300mm or 320mm rotors?

Assuming you're actually talking about your own car, this would imply you somehow have X-Type software installed on your S-Type...?!

Yes I am talking about my own car!!

I will attach a pic of the screen to show what I am talking about. Does this mean that I would have to swap out all the hardware to S-Type hardware, or could I flash the system and add new software?

OK so someone has probably replaced the DVD drive with one from an X-Type, usually when swapping drives it automatically recognises which model it's in. But apparently not this time.

Actually this usually only happens when SatNav has been retrofitted into a car that did not originally have it, using the x-dave custom wiring harness.

Anyway, just changing the setting from X400 to X202 using the pin code 1971 instead of 917 doesn't usually hold once the ignition is turned off. The only way to permanently set it is using an IDS/SDD dealer diagnostic kit.

I'm surprised that your climate control is working, given that it's set X400. The S-Types have a dual-zone climate (like the XJ) but the X-Type only a single-zone. When you go to the climate screen can you see the option "dual" ?

The software update you originally mentioned only updates the firmware when you have a newer disc, from your pic you are running firmware from 2003. Your logo is green right?

If you were to get a newer North American map disc, say from 2010 or 2011, then the firmware would be automatically updated when you load in the new disc. No need for a manual update.

But before you do that, you need to get the car to a dealer or an independant shop who has an IDS/SDD to get the DVD drive re-flashed to X202.

Not sure if the mirror dip on reverse is possible with an S-Type, but with an XJ it can only be turned on/off with the IDS/SDD.

Global close/open can also only be set using an IDS/SDD, but that is definitely available on the S-Type.

There are heaps of other settings that can only be changed with the IDS/SDD, I did have a list of them for the XJ somewhere, again not sure how many would apply to the S-Type.

Thanks for all the info. So I went into the diagnostic screen and accidentally hit the update sw button and it all went down hil from there.

Now the screen is blank and none of the hard switches work and I am getting the codes 50 and 51 flashing on the climate LCD.

I need to reinstall the system software But i dont have that DVD. does anyone have a copy to that to send me?

Or know how I can get this restored?

The updates come from the updated nav discs. You might need to get your hands on one to fix the issues.

Accidentally? Come on....

It's happened before, no doubt will happen again.
