Exclamation Need 2006 jaguar s-type cats!!!!@@@!@!

I just bought a 2006 stype with 38,000 miles on it. the stupid owners before me ran it with 4 bad coils, which fouled the spark plugs and totally trashed the catalytic converters ....

anyways the dealer wants to charge me around $3,500.

Not even a discount, wow! - best bet is to try salvage yards if they would even sell them to you... maybe you'll luck out. Hopefully, you didn't pay too much $$$ for it.

You'll get more help/info if you introduce yourself in the new members forum area as required, and then update your sig with the year/engine info.

It'd help to know exactly what you drive but Eurocarparts has cats for a 2006 3.0 for £140 each

React Jaguar | Euro Car Parts UK

No price on shipping to the States but the site says they'll ship worldwide

Take it to a muffler shop and ask them for generic aftermarker cats, should be a 10% of that quote for two cats and labor....

Any time you want a big cost get a quote from a dealer. Works for any car make.

Or save your time and money by starting elsewhere.

Don't bother asking a dealer for a quote because it will be larger than you want.

See what I wrote before

Are the cats really ruined or maybe is it just the O2 sensors?

Go to your nearest muffler shop and see what they can do. Also, try to find an independent Jag Mechanic, do NOT go to a dealer...
Try to stay away from the chain shops though, not all of them are good.

I have two stock 2003 STR cats off my car that I want to sell. I am not sure if they will work for your car, but they only have 49K miles and are in great condition. PM me if you are interested.

Is this your test or the dealer's test/statement in order to write you a quote for 3400? I had a 3.0 that had a failed catalytic converter. It will cause drive issues that resemble a coil issue..

So, question one: Are the coils and plugs sorted? It should drive fine when driven lightly.

Question two: With the plugs and coils sorted, does it jump into "restricted performance" when asked to accelerate hard?

Yes to BOTH would lead me to have things tested and probably bad catalytic converters.

Also, like the rest have said... Update the signature part, please.....

Brandon first off welcome to forum! Simplest way and cheapest is to buy magnaflow hi flow cats. First you need to know what size is your inlet and outlet of of your oem cats and the piping. Any muffler shop can assist you in guiding you. Many jag owners have done this already, Good luck!

Before purchasing make sure this set up is 50 state legal as CA has strict emissions standards and might NOT pass smog...

Check the year your car was put in use. Call JAG main 800 number and ask them. I think CA has longer warranty time. Doesn't hurt to try. Hope they covered it.

Jaguar USA - 2006 - 2010 Model Year Warranty

The Jaguar Passport to Service manuals contain warranty and maintenance information for your Jaguar.

Every new 2006-2010 Jaguar is backed by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000 new vehicle mile limited warranty. Some of its specifics include wear parts and service adjustments for 1 year/12,500 miles, corrosion protection for 6 years/unlimited miles, and battery replacement for 4 years/50,000 miles. Emission components have 8 years/80,000 miles. Feel assured. Your Jaguar dealer has complete details
