Sorry, but you're in jail on this one. Dealer cut key and dealer programmed fob.

If you bought the car from a Jag. dealer you might get them to throw one in. They gave me an extra key and remote but I asked when I bought the car.
Good luck!

I’m in the same boat, well kind of. We picked up our S-type this weekend from a dealer (not a Jaguar dealer) I only got one key/remote. He was honest and told me that the remote did not work. He even tried an new battery with no luck and I would have to go to a Jaguar dealer to get reprogrammed.Sorry Princess I did not intend to hijack your thread.

Unfortunately, the S-type is the only Jag that has to be programmed by the dealer. The other Jags can be programmed with a code; our resident Jag tech has confirmed this.

This is from a post bo did a while back
"From technical bulletins on jaguartechinfo.com ( I paid for a month of access)
OPEN driver door ( leave open )
Key to position one ( accessory position)
cycle key to position two ( ignition position ) and back to position one 4 times. the system will chime to say it is in program mode. leave key in position one
press any button on the key, the system will chime again.
turn key off.
Close the door

now the remote should work."

Im not sure if this wud work for the s-type, but im pretty sure thats how its done for the X

Doesn't work for the S that's for sure! Tried it a while back ago, maybe I'll give it another shot! Envy, when can I meet up with you and get my new FOB programmed?

I took in the S-type today to have my only key fob reprogrammed, as it never worked. I also had a new key cut and new fob programmed. To make a long story longer, I almost dropped $300. However, they did wash the car.[sm=yeahsmile.gif]

For anyone needing an additional key fob, let me advise y’all to get one or two used key fobs off ebay. They won’t be able to use the key, but that can be easily replaced. New key fobs cost about $70. A new key laser cut will cost about $60.

so to program 2 keys and a carwash they charged you about $170, i bet it only took em about 5 minutes to do it too. i think we need ssome techs to come and help us out and tell us the secret of programming the keys .

Yup. I know that there is a code. I saw the tech with a piece of paper in his hands, walking towards the car, with the new remote in hand. However I took him about twenty minutes, so it must be tricky.
