My daughter does the same thing and I'll give you the same advice I give her - "next time your mind is already made up, don't ask my opinion. It's a waste of my precious time to give you thoughtful advice that you really don't want to hear, only for you to ignore it and do what you intended to do from the outset."

Good luck with your new black matte Jag.
There is a difference between asking for advice and asking for opinions. I suspect that although the OP titled this thread "Need advice and Help", it's fairly clear that he didn't need advice or help, but was soliciting opinions on his actions.

i.e.: asking what the forum members thought of the decisions that he'd already taken.

Someone asking for an opinion isn't necessarily asking you what they should do, just asking what YOU think of what THEY have already decided to do.

Personally, the car is not to my taste but he loves it, and that is all that matters. I wouldn't buy any car with a knackered engine unless it's VERY cheap indeed - but almost any purchase is a good one if the purchaser is happy.

Much cheaper to sell the car and buy another.

But without interfacing the massive Jaguar electrical system to the GM powertrain you are just running two systems in parallel.

It did work but I really don't consider it useable but it did run and drive. It was a heck of a job to do but the end results were like a kit car rather than a real driving car.

Oh well. So much for that brillian idea.

How much mileage on this car anyways?

Have you gone to see this car in person and inspected it?

The fact it needs an engine, suggests you'll neither start it, or test-drive it before committing to it...

I would be way too worried what else is wrong with it. Come time to start it with the new engine installed, and you might find yourself troubleshooting the next thing...

Jag's have a notoriously bad reputation for problems and expensive repairs... You're seriously considering buying one already broken down?

You're horny for this particular car for a bunch of superficial reasons, paint, exhaust, and wheels really, meanwhile, you're likely overlooking the most critical areas when looking for a 15 year old jag...
Seriously, you need to be cherry-picking the best example out there, and not settling for the one that's been questionably modded and has a dozen stories to go with it. Rather spend that $5k+ on an 03+ honda accord to be honest...

Default I read about this already on the forums

Honestly it would be a dream come true but I did do my research thanks to this forum. And some poor guy dropped a large sum of $$$$ trying to do this and ended up with a heap of $hit. Its a lesson he learned and thank god others did not need to I felt bad for him.

You could find a good used one a whole lot cheaper than a Jaguar engine, have a more reliable transmission, and more power to boot.

There's a company out in California that sells a kit to do this to an XJ8. How hard can it be to adapt the kit to the S-Type?

Default Damn maybe you are right :/

Well maybe you are right there may be others issues wrong with the car..... IDK its a hard toss I may just sell the car and save up for an R-type after all the paint can be done at another time...... This sucks kinda sad about it but I feel your post is dead on and I need to take this advice.

Default Ok I want you to know my logic behind why...

Ok I know getting a honda is the "Practical" thing to do. However its not just about a reliable car but also a car that makes me feel good while driving it.

About 3yrs ago I started a company with a friend of mine I did all the marketing for it and pretty much was working 16hrs a day. We both busted our asses.

I ended up never getting anything in writing. Well a year 1/2 into it I ended up being screwed over and cut out of everything. I never thought he would do this to me seeing how much we both busted our asses and it was just the two of us in the beginning.

I did a lot of the work for free and paid out my own pocket when his cell was turned off and he could not afford to even pay to have it on etc....

I was getting every client and job that 1st year basicly without me he would have nothing today. I have a ford escort 1999 right now and he has a 149K base price MB. The small biz we both started is now worth millions.

I just dont want to feel like such a loser when I go meet with new or potential clients. I want to feel good about myself and what I`m driving as shallow as it seems helps me feel better.

So there you have it hope you can understand now why I dont want a honda. Or just a car that gets me from point A to B :/

His car right now my car right now LOL get the point

Never start a company without having all the legal ramifications settled in the form of a charter and a contract FIRST. Without a valid charter and contract, you have zero protection if your co-founder(s) decide to throw you under the bus....

Sorry, but you've learned a very hard lesson in more ways than one....

Default Yes your right 100% right

I know its very sad but true, I hate seeing my logo and the truck going down the 210 and just seeing how well he is doing makes me sick. However on a positive note I think of all the individuals that have jobs now and are able to provide for the families they have. Or just have a better life and I know I at least made an impact on others so maybe in $$$$ I`ll never be paid but in karma I have been.

I`m just really trying to not feel like such a loser and driving a decent car does make you feel a little better about yourself. I would hate to roll up next to him one day in my escort that all LOL.
