Need advice re: wheels from a Maserati going on an STR
Hi guys! My friend traded in his 2005 Maserati Gran Sport for a new Maserati, and he kept the wheels that were on the Gran Sport (19" staggered, 3 piece forged aluminum wheels). He wants to sell them to me and as a lucky start, both cars share the same bolt pattern which is 5x108. However, some of the other measurements are not so keen.
Lets start with specifications. I have found the following dimensions for the STR wheels, and I have included my sources:
Bolt Pattern: 5x108
Center Bore: 63.9
Hardware:12x1.50 Lug
Offset:
Front: 34-42mm
Rear: 40mm
Source: Wheels, Rims, and tires for 2003 Jaguar S-Type R - Street Dreams
Next is the Maserati wheels, and this is what I found:
Bolt Pattern: 5x108
Center Bore: 67.1
Hardware:
Offset:
Front: 45mm
Rear: 45mm
Source: Wheels, Rims, and tires for 2005 Maserati Coupe - Street Dreams
Additionally, the Maserati also has the same hardware size, 12mm x 1.50 (not mentioned in above source). Source: Maserati Gransport: Lug Nut
Do these numbers look right? If so, the Maserati only has a few mm more of offset, and I can either get spacers or mount them anyway like that bc the wheels appear to easily clear big calipers (unless I'm wrong haha).
It appears everything will just go right on. My concern however is the centerbore. His is 3.2mm bigger than mine. But I think you can get custom made hubcentric rings to make up for this. Does anyone have any say on this?

The big issue is the larger hub bore on the Maserati. The Maserati wheels might not balance correctly on the Jag. Although Jags are lug centric so I would say try it and drive on them up to speed and see what happens. You will have to get some type of spacer because you are going to hit the Maserati wheel on the spring from the looks of the offset.

As a follow up - I tried on the COR 3 piece forged aluminum wheels made for my friend's old 2005 Maserati Gran Sport on my STR today and it poked out about 1/2" in rear (I didn't even bother fitting the fronts). And thats before you even have to worry about the bigger centerbore. Gonna have to hope I can find a set of cast wheels for my car because I won't pay what forged aluminum wheels cost new. And for weight saving, his 19" forged aluminum wheels with tires weighed just slightly less than my STR's factory 18" wheels with tires so the weight savings is nominal. Def not worth the price unless you are using them for racing where every ounce counts.
