V8,
It's the electrical guts of the shifter, a microchip went out causing the issues, the silicon board was produced in February 2007. It contains the lights and all controls to the shifter.

Yeah it was a costly repair, not a normal item to go out but my Jag is back on the road after 3 weeks of headaches and grey hairs.
