Default Need help with ACM on S Type w/o CD Changer

Just installed another Audio Connectivity in the wife's car 2004 S 4.2 without Navi or CD Changer. I believe the ACM does not work because this car does not have a CD changer. The ACM manual says "If there is not CD changer fitted, the vehicle may need programming via WDS/IDS to enable the CD Changer functionality" ???
I understand some cars come with the CD Changer functionality turned on even though there is no CD changer installed (they are lucky!) Can anyone tell me how I can get/install this software so the ACM will operate?
Thanks (Cheers)
Bob

See someone with an IDS that can add the CD changer. If there is no changer, and the car does not think it has one, the ACM will not work. Even once you add the changer....good luck. We've seen a fair amount of issues with the "fooling" the car into thinking it has a changer deal.

What is an IDS? Can I make an appointment at the dealer and ask them to do their magic? The ACM is already installed and non-working. No CD changer in the car. Is this something that can be fixed or is the ACM usless in this non-CD changer vehicle?
Thanks,
(Cheers)

Yep, call the dealer....explain your situation, and they should be able to do it.

Thanks for the help I'll calll the dealer in Willow Grove tomorrow and make an appointment to have the CD changer software option added. Sounds like it works sometimes and sometimes not?

Yes, there have been some issues with cars that do not have a changer. Basically, you will be fooling the car into "thinking" it has a changer....and sometimes it creates issues.

Got an appointment at the Jag dealer in Willow Grove PA on Wednesday
The service mgr. says they have done this before and I can stay there and wait for the repair. I have no idea how much this will cost... I hope it goes smoothly..
Cheers.

It was the optical connector loop! The loop plugs into the CDC connector if you don't have a CD player. (I know I did this) The tech said that it makesa big difference how the bundle of wires and cables is placed behind the radio when it is reassembled. I dont know what kind of majic wand he used but it is working and all is well.

Glad to hear they resolved your issue. The tech was correct in that statement!
