Need help for Engine Swap
Dear Forum Members,
i own a s-type 2.7 d and need a engine swap. I am searching for a good used engine with all parts on it. I want to bring my Jag back to life.
But my budget is not strong to buy a new engine.
Can anyone help me to find a good engine? My chassis number is: SAJAA011367N66700 the engine code is: AJD 2.7 Diesel
Also i need information how to swap engine. Has anyone did this before? I appreciate any help..
thank you very much in advance

Mustafa: This Jaguar forum is primarily populated by members from the U.S. and Canada, where the 2.7L diesel was never sold. Responses may be rather limited.
From what I gather from posts on the British S-type forum, used engines are in short supply as this engine was also used in Land Rovers. Problems arising from faulty DPF regeneration have unfortunately ruined a disproportionate share of 2.7 diesel powered JLR vehicles.
Good luck in your search for a replacement engine...

Thank you for the information.
can i ask you something about Engine Codes:
My car has the engine code: AJD
what is the difference between AJD and TDV6
is that the same engine or not? i am really confused about the codes..
What are main things that i have to look for when i am buying a engine for my car?
thank you

I have never done an engine swap in an S-Type, however the following may be of help in your search. As always any corrections by others are most welcome.
The part numbers for the 2.7 diesel engine changed at VIN N52948 that was made in january 2005 and again on VIN N90678 that was made towards the end of ptoduction in 2007.
You will need an engine from a car between these VIN numbers to be sure it will be ok in your car.
You can pin the date of manufacture of the engine by its serial number.
This is in the following format:
Year (two digits) Month (two digits) Day (two digits) Time (four digits)
So I think you need an engine with an 05 or 06 serial number, or an early 07 date.
AJDV6 is the code name for the 'Lion' group of diresel engines that includes the TDV6 that was made as a 2.7 and a 3.0 for later jaguar cars.
Please note that as far as i know only a Jaguar S-type engine will fit in a Jaguar S-type. The Land Rover engines and even engines from other Jaguar models will have different fixing points for external components.
