I still have the spare remote with key from the 02 X-Type 3.0 that I traded in for my 03 STR. I recieved only one key with remote with the STR. Can I remove the key from the X-Type remote and replace with a new (spare) key for the STR. The X-Type remote appears identical to that of the STR. Last, do I have to go to Jaguar for a spare STR key and program the X-Type remote to the STR keyless module?

 

Hmmm...That is a yes and a I don't know... The fob (remote) has to be programmed by the dealer. I don't know if the X type's transmitter is compatible. Since you need the dealer anyway, I would just stop in and ask. Don't forget to bring both keys with you..They have to pair all of them, not just add one.
