Default New 2003 Jaguar S-Type Owner since Late January

I've enjoyed my car since I've taking ownership of it. Have had various problems. Had differential replaced in April and now i'm losing coolant, and they tell me the radiator needs to be replaced. they say it's a 5.5 hr job. I've learned a lot about my car just by looking around in here. Proud to be part of the group. Rodney

Default 03 S type owner since April

Rodney,

These cars are awesome to own and to drive but when they get 'sick' it takes some of the luster out of ownership! The positive comments, the satisfaction of getting inside, starting it up and taking off, makes up for it I think! I think this is the best looking, riding and most comfortable car I have ever owned. I had a couple of caddy's that were nice, but this Jag beats them hands down! Bought mine with 96K for a great price and had it shipped from the east coast to Oregon. I have had the tranny serviced and the power steering unit serviced with an additive that took the squealing out. Just had three coils replaced and all the spark plugs. More pep now! Whoopie. A little cutting out is still apparent and I will take it back into the Jag Shop in Portland in the morning to check it out. They didn't catch that when they did the coils and spark plugs. They are telling me it might be a vacum hose. I'm hoping. Will let you know what they find out. Enjoy your S type. I have pics of mine, if you'd like to see 'pretty kitty'.

Rodney, welcome to the forums! The coolant reservoir is a very common problem, the nipple gets brittle with age and cracks. I would have the shop check that first.

The vacuum lines also are a known problem for cracking as well. IMO if you replace 1 replace them all.

Gary post up the pictures!!!!!

It's not likely to be the radiator so be sure to check the far commoner failures (header tank, DCCV etc) first. Welcome to the forum
