Default New Castrol edge with Titanium,

Castrol edge with "Titanium" WTF! I just changed my oil yesterday with the Castrol EDge, not with the new Titanium. How many freakn types of oils is CAstrol going to come out with. Anyhow sounds to me like some kind of advertising gimmick to buy their shiat!

I do use Castrol Edge in my Jag very satisfied as with other Castrol products . Still, I believe not every product is good for any engine

Er, how hot do you run your engine oil? LOL

It's not going to be as raw metal (think what damage it would do!!), it'll be some chemical containing (tiny amounts of) titanium.

Surely snake oil would be better as well as cheaper.

The crazy thing is about CAstrol, they are getting rid of Castrol Syntec and now they come out with Castrol Edge with Syntec, lolz, So all in all we have two brand new Castrol oils out for 2011' Castrol Edge and CAstrol Edge with Syntec!

You have an engine made out of vegetables? Wow.

I've used "G" brand oils in a variety of power equipment. It is the bio-based (beef tallow) stuff. Works ok in my chainsaw and other 2 cycle mix equipment. Not sure if I would use the motor oil.

I've stuck with regular ol' Castrol GTX 5W-30 conventional oil for our S-Type. Seems to work just fine....

I watch the oil sales at Advance Auto Parts / Autozone / Pep Boys and stock up when it's on sale. With the mail-in rebates that many folks lose or never bother to send in, the stuff winds up costing me about $2.00 a quart, sometimes a little less. That's a far cry from when oil used to go for 69 cents a quart back in the late 70s, but still better than paying today's retail prices....

Jon,

69 cents a quart? You were living in high cotton. When I worked at Sears the expensive multi-grade was 49 cents a quart. The regular 30 weight was 29 cents a quart if I recall correctly. This was back in the days of cans and the spouts you put into the cans.

It wasn't that long ago that you could oil on sale for around a $1 a qt. When Synthetics started getting popular and people got used to $5-6 qt I think it gave companies carte blanche to bump prices to $3+qt. Since all my cars except my Miata take synthetic I usually wait until costco has Mobile 1 on sale and stock up. I think it ends up being around $4qt.

They actually stopped selling Castrol Syntec around here. Once the the new Edge with syntec whatever crap thats all they carry but its sold at the syntec price so dont bother me any. Wally World is still the cheapest oil prices around here especially if you buy it in the 5qt jugs. 3 of those will do 2 oil changes in the STR. One jug of the new Edge with syntec whatever is $21.

I just get Mobil 1 syn. it's everyday price is like 23.00 for the 5 quart jug at walmarts.

Now the filter is another story those lil suckers are high...I only use WIX though.

Actually brought a purolator filter for the Jag and refuse to use it. It was horrible next to the WIX filter....very cheaply made. Guess which filter cost me more too....lol

Never used a Purolator filters. I hate them. LOL. But really I used a Purolator One filter which is supposed to be there best filter. Well it doesnt seat the gasket all the way. You will thread it till it doesnt thread anymore and it will be bottomed out and you will seep oil out through the gasket. I will never buy another Purolator filter again. I use Wix all the way now.
