New Engine Problem?

3 days ago, while driving, I pulled into a parking spot and I felt the car shudder a little bit. Not really knowing what the problem might be I had the oil changed (500 miles before 3000). Now whenever my car idles, (at a stoplight or when parked) the car will idle fine, then shudder once or twice, and then idle fine again... before shuddering once or twice again (the revs seem to dip a bit each shudder).
Then today while stopped at a stoplight the car was idling fine, and then started shuddering and finally the engine died. It started up fine and drives perfectly normal when in motion. However, when I parked at home I let it sit idling for a bit and it died again.
Sorry for the long-winded story, but I truly am clueless when it comes to the innerworkings of engines and the like and would LOVE if anyone can give me some information on what might be goin on.
Thank you all so much for any help you can give.
Also, any info on how much this issue would cost to repair would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you again!
Aaron

Sounds like misfiring. Does your fuel have Ethanol in it??
I came across similar symptoms/problem two months ago when my dealer filled my car up with crappy fuel loaded with ethanol. My STR HATED it and misfired like a son of a bitch. Had to flush the injectors, and replace a coil and spark plug because of it.
The feeling was much like what you describe....At a stop, the car would almost chug or lunge (not the lurch) as the rpm's dipped or surged. I also noticed and felt it when I was driving the car down the road under acceleration though, which you do not mention in your post.
My check engine light came on after about 10 minutes of the problem starting, which was immediately after the tank was filled with crappy fuel by the dealer.
The Dealer told me that in order for a misfire to alert the computer system of a problem, a cylinder must misfire twice in a row. Otherwise it is considered an anomaly and nothing to worry about. But yours could still be doing it, just not all the time so it could be "fooling" your engine's computer even though there's a problem (assuming your engine light in not lit).
At the Dealer, to replace a spark plug and coil, as well as flush out the injectors, the total came to $550 bucks. The Dealer picked up the tab after I threw a raging fit because it was their worthless decision to fill my car up with Regular grade Ethanol spiked gas. (I was also pissed because the car just had $4,700 worth of work done on it and it ran worse coming out after that than it did when it went in...lol)
Of course, I'm not a Jaguar Tech, so I could be totally wrong about your problem. It's worth looking into though....
Best of luck in getting it sorted.
