New to forums have a few questions...
Hi, I am new here. I own a 2002 S-type 3.0 and have had it for a few years now. Lovely car. I live half the year in NY and other half in Miami. I will be needing my brake done soon. I have heard that in the s-types that the rear brakes, not sure if it was rotors or pads need to be installed a certain way? Not sure if it is true? If anyone can specify on that...

Not sure about the 2002 model, but on my 2005 model once the old brake pads on the rear wheels are removed, the rear brake caliper pistons must be compressed using a special tool that spins them and compresses them at the same time. You can put down a deposit at Advance Auto Parts or Autozone and borrow their toolkit, do the job, then bring it back and get your deposit back....
On my 2005 model, no special tool is needed for the front brakes. You simply compress the pistons with a C-clamp as with most other cars and you're good to go....

If you don't want to buy the kit you can rent one from AutoZone for the cost of the caliper kit and when you are done, take it back and the will refund your money. Essentially, you get free tool rentals from them. When I did my brakes a few weekends ago, I think it was like $60 for the tool and then as soon as it was brought back to the store they refunded my money. You can also find the caliper kits on Amazon.com for about $25 to $40 shipped to your door.
