new guy gasket query

hi dont know if this is in right place sorry,while changing a coil when took off manifold got 6 yellow rubber gaskets now what i would like to know is that the only gaskets there.ordered new gaskets and they sent me two black plastic ones with a blue rubber moulded into it,just dont know where it goes or do i need to strip it further thanks for any help

Sounds like a 3.0L V-6, but if I'm wrong, just disregard. I got these from Rock Auto, allegedly for the Jag 3.0L. Didn't look to me like I'd get a seal with 'em, so I cleaned up the existing yellow ones and re-used them.
The molded-in rubber matched up with the grooves int eh lower intake manifold, but wasn't nearly thick enough to fill the gap.

Just a note or a question.....
Are Fel-Pro gaskets available in Scotland? If so UPPER gaskets Fel-Pro part # MS96496 $43.00 (US) and the LOWERS Fel-Pro part # MS96485 $17.00 (US).
Also if you are going to replace the upper manifold (plenium) gaskets do yourself a favor and do the lowers as well, its only 6 more bolts and adds 5 minutes to the upper job!

I wasn't sure John thats why I posted the question in post #5. I have to ask, do you guys across the pond wrench on your vehicles or spend what you have seen posted here in the states? If thats the case I feel for you guys.
There doesn't seem to be to many "shops" here that will touch a Jaguar, regardless if its putting air in the damn tires or something that seems so complicated as changing a MAF sensor.
After market parts here are a billion dollar industry. If you find a DCCV or what you need here and the shipping costs will benefit you, just tell me I will send it to you!

I looked at a good price for a DCCV on Amazon but it was "we don't ship to your destination". Then a more expensive one which said it offered International shipping. Yeah, right.

Bought one (at the best price I've seen over here) on ebay. Roughly $150. Ouch.
Yes, there IS an aftermarket here, at least for the common cars (Fords, Vauxhalls - GM's name here, etc). Some for the S-Type, mainly the 3.0 (Fram air filters etc).
There are (or seem to be) more jags here, relatively. I'm not sure why since car prices (especially new) are far greater. New price on my STR was around £52,000-55,000 (about $85,000). Probably discounted, but no idea by how much.
Dealer parts seem "not too bad". And this is a small island so often not far to a dealer (I have two within about 15 miles). I'm saving plenty by doing my own work and am aware this is a performance car so have no wish to fit pattern parts for air & oil filters. (I don't buy oil from the dealer!)
However, we have quite a few indy (independent) garages (shops, I think you'd say) which largely or only work on jags. The country's smallness and relatively more jags may be the reasons. I have one I'm keeping in mind if I get a fault I can't fix (like the hose under the SC).
Labour rates here are high. We can pay per hour what you'd pay in a day (maybe half day). We can also get the hopeless jag "tech", just as you guys suffer. I hope it happens less here but don't know. I'd use an indy mainly because they strike me as more competent, but also they're cheaper.
All that said, I'm aware that sometimes it's worth your while to buy parts from over here despite the shipping. It's a funny world!
