I am in the process of making that exact idea. I wanted to keep the stock airbox because i liked where it's air source was so I am going to make a nice stainless pipe to replace the stock pipe.

I am pretty lazy so I will get on this as soon as I can.

Cool, if you do get round to making one let me know how it sounds and performs. the hardest part i reckon is going to get the correct fitting for the engine breather. I was even debating getting a standard plastic pipe and cutting all the tubes off and plastic welding up the resulting holes.......may give this idea a go and see what its like.
