Default New Member First Impressions of S-Type

Hi and what a great forum.
Just bought a 2002 S-Type for the wife and here are my impressions:
1. Interior Mirror fell off while driving home. 2 min to fix OK
2. Day 3, the drivers seat harness was eaten by the seat track. I week off the road with Jaguar. Fixed and all OK
3. Plastics trim around the seat base is a bit cheap especially the plastics where the belt anchor to the seat.
4. 4ltr engines puuurrssss!
5. Blew a F16 interior fuse.. Not sure why but replaced and OK
Great stuff on this forum to help fix all these problems.
Thanks

It's all part of the joy's of owning a jaguar Sometimes you go for weeks with nothing happening ........ then boom - those pesky little Jaguar gremlins wake up for some fun

Default Thanks for your welcome

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

My car is a 2002 S-Type 4.2ltr 6 speed.

I have noticed that I am get a squeaking noise from the front left brakes on rotation that increases with speed and stops when applying the brakes. i also notice that the brake fluid reservoir was on the low sign. Do you think this is a sign of pads needing replacing? If so, what pads are recommended and does anyone have a recommended online supplier? Also does the S-Type have shims and does it require insulation gels to stop vibrations?

Lots of questions and I thank you in anticipation.

Dirk

Could be low pads.

Check the disc (rotor) thickness, too.

Default Thanks

Thanks will do as the car had 68000 klms on it and I am not sure how harsh a life it has had before me. I have checked a few suppliers of pads recommended in the forum but none seem to ship internationally as yet.
Thanks again
Dirk

Default Excellent

Thanks. British Parts directed me to jagparts and they seem to have a great range. I will confirm the exact part no by checking the VIN. Does anyone have the Rotor thickness tolerances for front an back?
Regards
Doug
