Hi all
im the proud handler of an 06 STR CAT before I say how sublime it is and powerful! It does have an issue! So I am hoping some one will have an idea...

basically if I lock the car by the fob after getting out it’s fine for 15 mins then if I try to unlock or anything by the fob it won’t activate and then when I open the door manually the horns go off! So I’ve been told the alarm system has back up Recharchable batteries that die after a few years i

Unlocking with the key is supposed to set the alarm off if you don't use the key in the ignition so you appear to be describing a feature not a fault.

Your car came with 2 keys (w/ fobs) so try the other or if you've not got it be aware someone has and can take your car any time and also you are in a hole if anything happens to your current one. (I'd get another...)

Thanks for the reply
yes I understand the key replacing within 15secs but the alarm goes off the sec you unlock and open the door, and as I say if I lock the car with the fob, upon return say 20 mins later the fob does not operate the unlocking sequence, (also I do have both fobs And yes the same issue with either)

You say it only does this after 15 mins?
Does it work as it should right after you lock the car using the fob?
If so make sure all doors and the boot are locking and unlocking as they should.
You may find one is not locking or unlocking properly.

Also try the deadlock function. This is the second press of the lock button on the fob when you lock the car. You should hear another noise from the locks.

I think you will find that each lock send a signal to the security control module when it is actualy fully locked and another when it is unlocked.
If this does not happen from one lock then you can get issues.

It may be a good idea to look at the wires that go to the boot/trunk as these can fail where they bend.

Yes both fobs lock and unlock straight away after closing the doors for a few minutes but once left neither works and then if I open the car by the key the horn sounds immediately, will go and double check all doors etc are locking ok
appreciate your help greatly!

Ok so it seems all doors etc are locking correctly and if I try one push of the open button just drivers opens and the rest remain locked.. it just doesn’t seem to accept any signal from the fob after a few minutes!..

There was a voluntary service action recall on the fobs, check you have not got one of the affected fob part numbers, but I think they should all have been done when cars went in for service at Jaguar.

See this technical bulletin for details
