Default Newbie 2000 S-Type 4.0

Hey Yall, I am a newbie to the Jag crowd as my wife bought a 2000 S-Type 4.0. It is a really clean, straight car with only 48,000 original miles. The only problem is we have owned it for 1 day and have had our first problem. We have cold air but have no heat whatsoever. This was learned as we has to emergency exit the interstate on our way home from the purchase because we could not see out of the windshield during a rain .........no defrost. There is no heat at all from any vent. The dealer said they would fix it no matter what the problem was. Anyone heard of this? I had the car looked at by a friend who owns an auto shop. They determined it is not the heater core. Any help is appreciated!!

By the way, air will blow from every vent. It is not the blend doors. The air just will not blow out hot!

funny... Kind of.... I got my 2000 S 4.0 about 3 weeks ago and discovered today that their is no heat and same description signal had. I would think its got to be a valve.
...c'mon v8, we know you know the answer... :-)
I will do some digging and see what I come up with and post for you. In the meantime, if Jagv8 feels up to it, please post or direct us in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

p.s.
This is a great forum signal.

after doing some digging, my head is spinning.... well, not really, but there is a lot of info out there from DCCV, blend doors, heater core blockages, etc.

I will try some things out this weekend and let you know if I have any luck. Please post if you solve the problem!!
Have a great week.

Probably the heater control valve (dual zone heater control valve, but Jaguar calls it a 'water valve') XR822975 but the part # is superceded by now.

There are sooooo many threads on here about it. Just read the thread titles or do some searching. That's why the old ones are kept!

Default DCCV issues

Hi guys

I have the same car with the same problem.Mine is 2000 V8, 68000 miles. i live in CA so heat is not a issue until November, and plan to replace the dccv. You can buy this from rockauto(they call it heater control valve), same valve i/changeble with Lincoln LS 2000. price around 200/-.
Here are couple steps to isolate your problem
1.Remove fuse-1 from the fuse box under the hood, with engine running check the 3 silver water lines are piping hot. Also with the blower fan on if you have heat.If you have heat DCCV is good.
2.If still no heat it is, suspect the dccv.
3.There is a another pump in the system (only on v8).With all the controls set for heat, use a harbour freight stetescope, and listen for the pump ops.if good you can eliminate the pump.

Good luck

Thanks for the info. everyone. Signal, keep me posted on what the shop says. If it is the DCCV I will roll the dice and do a swap with one from the bone yard to see if it fixes it.

The DCCV valve always fails on these..Don't risk burning out your climate control board by getting a used one...It's one of those things that is bound to fail anyway so just go and replace it with a new one...

Thanks for the posts. Come fall, when I need heat, I will troubleshoot and get a new one if needed, I didn't have time this weekend to mess with it.... I am working on VVT valves.

I think the DCCV needs to be consistently watched in all of our cars. Carefully wipe it down with a white paper napkin when you check your oil each weekend. If you start to see coolant stains on the napkin, you know your DCCV is in the process of giving up the ghost....

Kind of like watching for oil leakage through the factory yellow IMT O-rings. Make it a part of your weekly under-the-hood check-up. Only takes about 15 seconds to check either component....

Please read other threads here. The short and skinny...When the valve fails it can cause a short and burn out the climate control module..Waiting until you "need heat" may end up costing you much more.......Just trying to save you some aggravation and $$ in the long run.

Brutal,

We know that Jaguar (or Ford) recognized the problem with the original yellow IMT O-rings at some point and went to the new-and-improved green IMT O-rings being sold today in order to resolve the issue....

What about the poorly-designed or poorly-constructed DCCV? Did Jaguar (or Ford) recognize the problem with the initial DCCV components and react by having a better DCCV built as a replacement? I'm hoping that the DCCVs that we all purchase nowadays (whether from Jaguar or from Ford or from an internet supplier like rockauto.com) have been improved and are far less likely to suffer from premature malfunction and then cause havoc with the climate control circuit boards....

What can you tell us?
