Hello all,
On my s-type 1999 3.0 V6 I got the ABS light on.
And when I go driving I get the message Tracktion control error.
So I allready cleaned all sensors connections, still the same.
Now I wonder using a standard ODB 2 reader, can I read the error code.
That I can look it up in JTIS.
Regards,
Peter Jan

How old is the battery? Such errors can pop up just due to an old/failing one.
Strictly, I believe an elm327 could read the data if we knew how to tell it what to do, but in practice because we don't then no generic tool can do so. If it's not the battery, try cleaning the reluctor rings. You don't want to disturb the sensors if you can help it because they're sealed in and you can create problems so instead I'd get a jag dealer to read out the code and then go from there.
A dealer-type tool like AutoEnginuity can read ABS but it's about $450.

Thanks,
This indeed seems to be a battery problem.
It is more that 5 years old ( probably even 8 )
After driving a longer time, and starting again all seems fine.
It happened after driver some very short distances.
Very strange that this effects the ABS.
Regards,
Peter Jan.

Hello,
Yesterday I used the car agian, with the new battery, and again ABS+ tracktion control error.
I found out that when I drive the car for about 10Km, and I restart it all is fine. But when leaving the car for about 30 minutes and then starting it up problem is back. Restarting after about 10km problem gone.
Time to find a garage that can read ABS codes ( most don't )
Regards,
Peter Jan
