last week I bought a icarsoft i930 to find my missfire it can do fuel trims scan code and diagnose every part of my car even ran a diagnostic on my phone and radio it did cost £109 but I think it paid for itself the instructions not detailed but it only took a few minutes to work out how it works I even updated it on my laptop TO the latest updates there are cheaper ones around though

Join the club. This model catches DTCs that generic Actron does not. Also came in handy on a 2009 Range Rover. What else would show a sunroof switch fault? There's another thread about choices here, but I vote for the i930 too.
$100 used (but flash updated) on eBay. Well worth it.

Start with defining "best". In some sense it would be what Jag techs use... (Not very user-friendly, though.)
Best value would easily be an elm327 as they're crazy cheap yet will do live data (which many more expensive ones won't).
If you do one thing, watch LTFTs when your car is working (i.e. while they're close to zero) so you know how. Do it at least once a year thereafter - and immediately upon suspecting an air leak.

Based on JagV8's recommendation elsewhere on the forum I bought an
ELM327 "Pro" OBDII, V2.1 softwear, with blue tooth.
Got it from ebay at just under £6-00 ! A UK premium seller that is.
I havent tried it yet, but here is the one I bought.

I have literally only just uploaded the app from the supplied CD to my smart phone via my desktop PC, before logging into the forum.
App looks very good on the phone, I just need to do the bluetooth install in the car.
