Default Oil change kit for 6HP26 6speed Transmission on SALE!

Thought I would share this with all of you guys. There's a dam good deal for anyone whose doing a transmission service on their 6 speed ZF. Check out the Tranny kit, includes everything you need to do the job right, with ZF fluid included. I don't want to sound like I'm marketing their products, but I have bought my Tranny parts from them and the fluid. Everything went smoothly. I was very pleased from their service and shipping was fast. Klaus(owner I'm assuming) was really knowledgeable and helpful in helping to layout good pricing for us ZF Transmission owners for our JAgs.

Complete kit price, $221.95,
The oil pan comes with the oil pan gasket, filter o.-ring, drain plug and the two magnets preinstalled.
The Transmission Sleeve isn't included in the kit, wish it was but it sells separately on their website for $15.48.

**Here's the link to it TheCTS.com link removed 12/7/12 as it was showing a virus threat.
Cheers!

Good Luck to all.

...6 quarts of Lifeguard 6 comes with it. I had a huge debate with the guy about how many quarts does the 6speed ZF Tranny take. I kept insisting it was more than 6 but he wouldn't budge on the fact that it takes like around 7.5 to 8 with pan/filter and sleeve change ,but we will see once I get the Tranny Service done. Each additional quart(liters) is around $17, not too shabby.

Nice one.

While I really hate ZF's position on this. (stated in another thread)
I really think I'll do this instead of switching to the Castrol fluid.

Jag79,

Remember that the ZF Fluid is sold by litres, not quarts. So six bottles will probably come very close to what you can manage to get out of your original pan once you drop it....

This does indeed look like a great deal for those who want to stay with ZF Fluid. It shows you just how much all the dealers (not just Jaguar) are soaking their customers at their current price levels even though fluid prices have dropped over the course of this year....

I don't see a phone number for CTSC on their website. Do you have it?

Yeah I think I'm going to have to jump on this one too...

Besides this what else should I get, I know the trans sleeve wants to leak at times... I dont think mine has... YET.

I'm very tempted to order the 7th liter of lifeguard.

Oh this guy also sells a case of 12 liters of lifeguard 6 for 197.56. But wants 17 and change for one liter...

George

Just an FYI on Fluid quantity - I've done a number of 6HP26s and it ALWAYS takes 8 qts. This is even specified in the fluid change procedure in JTIS (takes an 8 qt. initial charge).

Remember, if you've followed the right process for correcting the fluid level, you start out overfilling by approx. 1/2 qt. As the fluid heats up it expands, expelling the additional fluid. The approximate correct refill volume (minus the torque converter) is 7.5 qts, but you need 8 for the cold fill. 6 qts. is not going to get the job done for you.

Edit - Also, I ALWAYS change the connector sleeve as these have a fairly high frequency of leaking at around the 60K/70K mile range. The sleeves are nothing more than a thin plastic tubular section. After a number of heat cycles, the plastic (like the pan) simply fatigues. The pan has to be removed to release the locking collar on the sleeve. It would be a shame if you changed the pan/filter/fluid and not the sleeve, only to find the sleeve begins to leak a few Kmiles later as everything will come off again, and I personally wouldn't reuse the plastic pan.

Great find! This forum is wonderful! It's odd you can buy the entire transmission overhaul kit ($226) for about the same price as the fluid change kit. Does not seem correct?
They also list the pan screws for $1.64 each. This is better than the $2.30 price listed elsewhere.

No phone number? I guess contact by e-mail only??

Steve11- Do you change the pan screws when you do a fluid change? It was recommended by ZF in another thread.

Mine took just over 7litre. The price quoted here for the kit is VERY reasonable -- no rip-off there! So hurry up and get it bought before they run out... Even buy ahead of need. I'm assuming the ATF fluid supplied is therefore gen. Shell M1375.4 full-synth.

Based on multiple posts and a quick look at a conversion table looks like you should buy 2 additional liters when buying the kit...

8 us quarts = 7.5708 liters

Yers, I do. About half the time, the screws don't come out w/o a fight and I've had to resort to some pretty aggressive stuff to get them out, like grinding slots in the heads, cutting away parts of the plastic pan, etc. The old ZF screws use a Torx 30 head, the newer ones a torx 40, and much more desireable. USE anti-seize on the screws on reassembly.

I sent an e-mail with questions to Klaus (the owner of CTSC) and he called me this afternoon. We talked for more than 30 minutes. He worked for ZF for more than 30 years and is doing this as a sideline business. The man knows his stuff, and he wants to help those of us who prefer to do our own fluid changes. Be aware that he is much more familiar with BMW than he is with Jaguar, and he readily admits that. We can help to educate him on Jags....

Talk to Klaus the owner and mention you are a member from JaguarForums 805-388-2400. Hopefully I'm trying to get him to advertise on Jaguarforums Vender section and give us members a little more discounts in the future.

**Correction the old screws are Torx 27 not 30, the new ones are Torx 40 which are right like you said
