Default Did my Tranny Service Today with Tranny mount replacement and here's the results....

Okay guys like I have posted before I bought all my stuff from "THE CTSC"; fast shipping from FEdex and everything is genuine and legit! . Back before this new kit deal, I purchased the complete pan/filter/gasket, rubber sleever,new filler plug, and the 12pack of ZF fluid. Now after the pan/fill/rubber sleave replacement, I ended up only using a little more than 6 and half quarts(rest I will save for the future or just sell it off ). The Jag tech used the computer sensor to get the accurate readings and thats how much I used based upon the instructions as stated when doing a refill after a repair for a tranny. I didnt use 7.5qts like soo many have said to be. Klaus the owner of the company CTSC even stated that it takes 6 qts. But I went a little more than half a quart extra at the end.. I even gave the Jag tech a print out of the exact ZF instructions from the website and he followed it down to the very last word, so I really dont' know how you guys are getting the magic number 7.5qts . The old Tranny oil that came out was like fu*cking Sludge, dark Olive oil color!!!! . But anyhow once everything was done including the Transmission mount replacement, the STR ran sweet like butter in shifts
**Also I highly recommend using the Amsoil hand pump kit, its like $10 online (http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/g2039.aspx), it did the job fast and clean, and it fits any size quart or gallon bottles which is a major Plus.

**Klaus may not know a lot about Jags, but the freakn ZF Transmissions are all the same brand that BMW, Hyundai and Jags and other car companies use, so Klaus has a lot of knowledge and experience on ZF Transmissions alone.

In my case it was because I allowed the tranny to drain 12+ hours, so more had drained out of the different valves and such according to Brutal.

...okay that makes sense that I only could get 6 and half qts in b/c I only allowed 6 hours for the car to cool down after arriving at the Shop and at that time the temp was showing 30 C. Waited and waited, put cooling fans underneath to cool the tranny down, so yeah the tranny was warm but not hot once we started the work.

You would think with all of the different cars the ZF transmission is designed into, the average age of those cars, and the fact that more and more people are finding that non ZF transmission fluid works - ZF would start to decrease the price barrier between their product and the competition so they wouldn't get left out of a growing market segement.

Wish they did this last year - imagine all of the time saved by not having to research what alternative fluid to use. Thanks for a great find...its nice to know that the approx 2 qt difference everyone is talking about a $40 difference vs $120 difference one year ago.

Thanks for the heads-up jag79. Doing mine early this coming week. One question though: After filling with 4 qts ZF, start engine, run through gears, stop engine add more till she drips?, or while engine running add more till she drips?

Add while running, or else you will have a few qts. of new ATF on the ground.

Default Another useful Update!

Klaus called me up yesterday and we did some more talking about ZF Transmissions and guess what! He told me we can retro fit steel pans instead of plastic ones on our JAGs . There's a catch to this though. We have to get different size bolts and the filter will be interchangeable. More info is to follow. He is putting together a package that will include the steal pan,filter,bolts,oil etc... very soon on his website. I know a lot of people including me was hoping for this. If I only knew before I did my tranny service, I would have jumped on it, but ohh well, for those of you guys who are planning to get a tranny service you will benefit from it

So that is not shell mineral oil is it? I am afraid to use anything but the OEM fluid on a car that is under factory warranty..

IF your under factory warranty stick with ONLY oem fluid such as ZF fluid lifeguard 6 or else your warranty will be voided. ZF fluid is a mineral oil based transmission fluid if thats what your asking.

Ummm... Your transmission is a ZF and filled with ZF Lifeguard 6..

Check with the dealer service and parts if it makes you feel better....
But the fluid listed in this thread is the OEM fluid..

The Audi uses the steel vs the plastic option.

I've told Klaus that many S-Type owners are discovering his new ZF kit through the Jaguar Forums website, so I hope he will be more and more receptive to our suggestions....

With my 2005 S-Type having only a little over 51,000 miles on it, I am going to wait and see what develops with his plans to offer a steel pan. I think that's definitely the way to go, whether or not you opt to stay with ZF Fluid or switch to something else once you are beyond your warranty period....

I also want to wait and see if my connector sleeve develops the infamous drip-leak. If or when it does, that would be the ideal time to order Klaus' kit and do everything at once....

I wonder if Klaus would be willing to drop the sleeve price by $3.00 (US) to match zftransparts.com price. hmmmm...

Hey thank you sooo much for sharing the information to other threads and I hope they take advantage of it I just wanted to share the info I found with everyone to have the best for their Jags transmission and not worry about it down the line by buying reasonably priced OEM Transmission parts/fluid. As our Jags start aging we start looking for a lot of aftermarket stuff b/c OEM is way too expensive. But since we come across very few wholesalers online who want to help us stick with OEm parts for our Jags and by them keeping the prices reasonable and affordable for us we can continue worry free buying OEM parts from them such as CTSC has done for us till now.

H20 everything you have mentioned is accurate and I hope more people who will be dealing with Klaus the owner of CTSC to bring us Jag owners the lowest pricing on the market for our Transmission parts and fluids for a long time to come.

** H20 do you think it would be a good idea to stick the website http://www.thectsc.com/ in the FAQ's section under the Transmissions?, so that if this thread gets lost within the hundreds of other threads out there people will miss out on this.
