Oil Filter Question

Oil Filter Question
I went to Advance Auto Parts as they often run a special for 5 quarts of oil (yes I know I need 6 ) and a filter for a good price. I already had 5 quarts of valvoline that was brand new but preferred mobil 1 for the jaguar. I exchanged the oil and got the Extended Life Mobil 1 5W30.
I wanted a Bosch filter for it but they said Bosch discontinued the proper size. The only 2 they had were Purolator (2 different models) and K&N (special order). I would have gone with the K&N but it wouldnt be here until next week and I want the oil done before I leave town tomorrow.
I know Vance said his Purolator leaked a very small amount in his video so I was concerned with getting it.
Please share your thoughts and/or recommendations, thanks!

I've been using Purolator oil and air filters for decades on all of our vehicles. Absolutely no leaks or issues at all, ever. Proper removal and installation procedures will prevent leaks. Ensure that the old filter gasket does not leave any residue bits behind before installing the new filter. Lube the new filter gasket lightly with oil using your fingertip. Spin it on and crank it down by hand. Then tighten it once more, about a quarter-turn, by hand. Works for me....

True. A leaky gasket would have to be a fluke because it is such a simple thing to get right.
BTW, the Bosch filters should be relegated to junk status. This is because their fitment listing for the X308 is actually shorter than the factory filter. This allows one filter to cover more models. But, when a manufacturer does this, one has to wonder what other shortcuts they take.

* As a side note the 03+ STR and S Type - 4.2 call for the M1-213 filter as well...

If you change the oil at frequent intervals, the filter probably could be any type. I guess just lucky having the V6 and the mobil filter is always available either the zone or advanced. I have to stop there today to get some wax and will check to see if they stock the filters for the V8's and the newer models.

I used a Jag filter for my first change and then NAPA gold for the next two. The forth one was a brand X at Lucas Auto Repair in Houston. The last one was a Mobil 1 filter since Auto Zone includes it with 5 qts of oil for $34.00. I like the deal so much that is what I am going to get from now on. As long as they keep the price lower than average. Since the S-type takes 7 quarts, I have to buy four extra quarts to make this work.
I can't believe what has happened to prices at the stores these days.
