Default oil leak -04 S type

I have an oil leak on my 04 S, 3.0L. Not sure where it is coming from though.
A little history..bought it Cert. Pre-Owned from local dealer with 49,700 mi. 6 wks ago.
I started having the leak a week or so ago; started noticing drops on the driveway.
Looked underneath and there is a under carriage cover that covers everything...can't tell where the drip is originating.
I am now under the SE warranty having 52,010 mi on the car.
My guess is either a leaking oil filter or a oil pan gasket.
Before I spend hundreds in diagnostic charges, does anyone have any suggestions? I would imagine the dealer would have inspected the oil pan gasket as part of the 140 point Pre-Cert. Inspection?? Also, would have chaged the oil and filter??

If the oil pan is leaking, select will cover it. Only thing they won't cover for your leak is a rubber hose. The oil pan leak is common.

I talked to my Service Consultant at my dealer about the oil leak.
He says oil pan gasket not covered with Select Edition. He says it only covers the basic engine, computer, trans. issues.
No gaskets, hoses, rubber or plastic items and wearable parts.

My dealer is in Tampa, FL.
Very nice folks. But I was told just this a.m. after dropping it off that SE did not cover gaskets, rubber, plastics and wear items.
OK...I asked how could I get a comprehensive description of what IS covered by SE??
Was told.."we do not have a specific list of covered items", that every warranty request had to be submitted for approval and that SE would determine if it is covered. He compared it to filing medical insurance claims and finding out after the fact that your insurance does not cover that procedure.
My Serv. Consultant, a really nice guy, says Jaguar has no say in what is covered..that SE is just a plain ole after-market extended warranty by a third party.

Let me be clear..I am not bashing my dealer or service guys..they have tried to be as accomodating as they can. This is the third time I've brought the car in in the 6 wks I've owned it. They fixed a bad turn signal housing that had shorted that would not have been covered if submitted under SE; instead, he made it good under the 4 yr/50K factory warranty.
The car had just turned 50270 mi.

FactoryJagTech...how do I get something in writing about the SE warranty, what's covered / what's not???

And thanks for your input and giving of your time to both those deserved and those that do not.

if you are in Tampa bring car to the east coast and I will fix oil pan leak under select.
Your service writer was feeding you a line of bs. We would be happy to take the business they want to turn away.
We will give you rental too so you not stuck at dealer.
I will try to find the list.

FactoryJaguarTech:

Wait a minute . . . . . .My Jag is still under warranty. Are you telling me I should get a rental

when my car is in for warranty work?

Mandoman - My Jaguar leaks oil "small" in my driveway , it's my drain plug "checked and replaced already" still leaks.

Yes you should get a rental if your car is in for warranty repairs.
If you replaced drain plug and still leaking, good indication it is not the drain plug, unless the orings missing.

Were taking our cars to Jaguar dealers!! I for one would like to see more consistancy from dealer to dealer as far as coverage goes. It looks like these non covered items are popping up more and more on here by several different people. As I said before SE is very vague and can do what ever they want with reguards to repair coverage as we now have seen. I will say that I have had several High cost repairs done for free (new supercharger, front brake caliper replaced, parking brake motor and pullys replaced, engine pullys replaced) but it's the little things that are so annoying. I have also paid at least 4 diag charges and have put well over 1200.00 out of pocket into this SE covered car. I still think they are the best cars on the road.

I picked up my car this a.m. They replaced the oil pan gasket at no charge!!
BUT, they charged it to the factory warranty, not SE!
My car has just over 52K and the 4 yrs of "in-service" time is up in June 08. So, I guess they fudged the miles??

Not fudging the miles...that would be fraud.
They can do it is a goodwill warranty and Jaguar will pay it.
If you have other problems that they say Select wont cover, check with me and I will let you know if it is. Then maybe just bring your car over to east coast and I will do it for you. Spend the weekend over here or something. I can always do it on a Saturday with no hassles.
