Default OK, this is weird I think the key fob is posessed

All of a sudden the key fob started acting up. if you push lock, it locks and then immediately unlocks the car. If the car is locked and you press unlock, it unlocks and then immediately locks the car again. This happens with both key fobs. Anybody know what the heck is going on?

Doesn't sound like the fobs since they both do it.

Chack the battery, it may be on it's way out if it's more than 3 years old.

Ok, I am going to take a stab at this. I would check to make sure that the lock actuators are locking the doors. The one with the most common problem is usually the (US) drivers side rear door lock.

Start by getting into the vehicles back seat with your fob. close door and press lock on fob, make sure the chrome manual lock lever operates correctly, if so proceed to check other chrome levers.

If you find a chrome lock lever not operating correctly, there are 2 "How To" guides in the stickies to help you out. One is for the front door actuators (the simplest to replace) and the other for the rear door (I can tell you from experience NOT fun at all).

Rick,
Thanks for the tip. The driver side front lock lever does not work. Where do I find directions on how to fix? You mention guides in the stickies. Where is that?

Here is one from spitfire that gets the door panel (card) removed:

I know Norri did an FYI somewhere around here as well, I just cannot locate it. I'll pm him and maybe he'll direct us to it.

Oh and I should add, purchase new do not go the used route or you will be doing this again! Trust me I know. Better be seated when calling for replacement actuator, I would use one of the forum sponsors and remember to get your discount!

IIRC the rear was nearly $300.00!

Norri and I talked, he replaced the rear window regulator, I thought it was the front actuator. Anyways the front is a lot easier to replace than the rear as mentioned.
