Once in a lifetime Opportunity - XE launch in London WINNER ANNOUNCED
#22
I'm guessing that the chosen Yank will be flown to the UK to serve as the fourth jackstand while jagV8's STR undergoes a ZF pan/sleeve/fluid change. The catch is that he has to blog about it while he's underneath the car. The entire ordeal will be filmed by the BBC for later broadcast....

Just an observation, but this thread has also been posted on other forums around here.

We have finally been given clearance to give a slightly better picture of what's on offer. Please see below.
This will be an all expenses paid trip to London from, on or around the 6th Sept to the 10th Sept approx inclusive, to the World premiere of the Jaguar XE launch.
A dedicated Jaguar / Spark44 employee will be with you to facilitate the experience throughout.
http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/jaguar/news/2014/07/jag_xe_technology_release_150714/?f=TgVG:xe&ct=NewsArticles&locus=1
To be considered for this, there are certain criteria that must be met, as below:
1. S-Type owner
2. age range 35-45 years (a little flexibility here for the right candidate)
3. resident in the USA
4. social media user
5. hold a valid passport
Expectations are as follows:
1. create thread documenting the whole experience and impressions on jaguarforums.com
2. share experience on social media channels whilst at event.
3. consider participating in future XE events held in North America
Please check the above and reply to this post if you can say YES to all of the above to be considered for the short list a.s.a.p
Please note - we can only advise Jaguar of possible candidates for this event. The final selection process will include the 5 points requested as well as forum posts count etc and is totally outside our control.
Good luck to all.

I believe Rick would be an ideal S-Type choice for this opportunity. Longtime S-Type owner and forum contributor, former forum moderator, excellent shade-tree mechanic, always willing to offer his expertise and advice to help those with car troubles and goes into great detail when doing so, and never a cross word to anyone. Pretty tough to top that combination. Yeah, he may be just a bit over the desired age range but experience triumphs youth any day of the week when it comes to appreciating cars....
Rick, I hope you win the prize. I don't think there's anyone here that is more deserving....

Rick,
We initially thought the age range was too restrictive and Jaguar/Spark44 came back to say they would be flexible for the right candidate. Five years either way seems a reasonable interpretation of 'flexible'.
The final choice is theirs and we have no influence over this but it looks to me like you've just put your name in the hat.

You already have.
All that's needed is a reply to the thread confirming meeting the criteria.

Well, all the candidates have been put forward, as is, with all relevant info.
Its now in the hands of Jaguar to see who / if anyone is chosen to proceed.
We'll be back at some point in the near future to advise the outcome hopefully.
