I've had both on the STR and it's a toss-up at the end of the day.
The price difference for the BFGs was negligible when I replaced the ASXs, so I went BFG to try something new.
Noise - both seem very equal.
Grip - maybe a small nod to the BFGs for a "seat of the pants" stiffer sidewall.
Looks - BFGs. The ASXs have a nice cursive "all season" moniker on the side that looks like something that looks like my wife's hand writing. BFGs also appear a little meatier - maybe a slight width difference on the 275 tire.
Wear - can't tell. BFGs only have 15K on the clock and look to have about 50% of the tread left. Seems comparable to the tread wear with the ASXs.
If the ASXs were $50 cheaper (for four) than the BFGs - I'd go ASX. If not, I'd go BFG.
Both are great all season tires.
Good luck,
Eric

The tires I have just say "Sport". I don't know anything about them since I just bought the car but based on my experience they are probably loud because they are getting worn. The person I bought the car from didn't think they were loud compared with the other tires he's had. He also says that he had the tire shop rotate them periodically (dismounted/mounted them left to right).
ok, i did some checking around....sumitomo htz II are on sale at the rack. I need fronts anyway, so i grabbed these to get my alignment and check my front end out. i think it may be more then just the tires, as my *********** told me.
Also the rack has str front brake pads on sale the Akebono ones. So i had them add that too. Now all i need are rotors, and we are in business.

Actually, the ASXs are $140 cheaper for four. I am more concerned with performance, ironic as it is with me asking about all season tires. However, with the tires being as close as you say, I might just go and save a little green.

Tomorrow morning ill be doing the alignment, tires and front brake pads. Now a quick question do i really have to replace these rotors if im not getting any pulsing issues??? Ive had real good luck in the past by doing just pads if the rotors were ok, however i dont want to take a chance on these.
Hell even on my trackbike ive changed just pads and been fine

sumitomos are rated at 360 A A and were 107 for 245/40/18 at the rack. Rears are coming up at 129 each for 275/35/18

Wow, good call on these ASXs. I immediately felt a much more.. solid (i guess that is the right word for it) ride than before. Less stiff, but more focused somehow. And absolutely NO road noise.. that was a huge plus for me. They seem to grip the road very well for the way I drive, which is by no means pushing the car to the limit, but I am a very spirited driver, if you can call it that. (I once received a comment that I drive my lifted pickup like a stock car, so you can imagine the kind of fun I have in an STR.)
Anyway, I highly recommend these tires so far. We shall see how long they last. I'll be happy with 20k after the approximate 8k I got out of the contis.
