Default P0037 Fault Code Fix and Porterfield Brake Pads ??

Hi all.

My apologies in adjargo vance for this question as I cannot seem to find a clear answer to the code as jargon is holding me back.

The problem code P0037 is Bank 1 sensor 2?

Questions:

1. On the 4.2 V8 NA, which side is bank 1? My car is a RHD.

2. Sensor 2? Is this the Oxygen sensor on the downstream side (rear side) of the cat convertor?

Sorry for the noob question but I have not located the solution map to the above on the forum?

The above is my last code to fix on the car as it is purring like a kitten. I have just finished the Valve Cover gaskets, and plug o-rings and now the plug chambers are perfect with no oil.

Also, has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with Porterfield R4-S Pad on a S-Type V8 2003 non R. I was planning to use new standard rotors but upgrade the pads to Carbon Kevlar to gain a little more bite! As this is my wifes car, it gets about 20 minutes twice a day of use. I thought that upgrading the rotors to something like Centric rotors would be a complete waste of money as the car bearly warms up each day. Your comments on these PADS would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards and thanks in anticipation of your comments.

Dirk

Dirkman;
Good job fixing your problems!

Yes The second O2 sensor is generally after the cat.

You really need to get the JTIS and the JEPC. These are both free on this site. The instructions are at the top of the forum under the sticky threads. I am surprised you fixed all that without them!

This is for XK8/R but should be the same for your engine

Not sure about firing order but bank 1 is on the R (steering wheel) side.

Default Bank A abd Bank B

Thanks for the tip ad I found this:

Bank A is on the right side viewed from the drivers seat

Bank B is on the left side "" "" ""

So, is Bank A the same as Bank 1? and B = 2?

Just making sure .

Thanks again for the tip.

Regards Dirk

If you look in the JTIS DTC section you'll see for P0037
HO2 Sensor heater control circuit
low resistance –
bank 1, downstream (1/2)

so it is the downstream one (if you've got one on your engine !! )

Hi Steve, its 9:42pm here but I just ramped the car up and had a look and there are O2 sensors after the cats both side. I will investigate the drivers side post cat sensor tommorow. Hopefully it unscrews OK. Also will check the wiring.

Thansk for your comments.. Dirk
