P0301B Cyl #1 Misfire Detected
So, I finally found enough time to change out my coils and plugs on my 00 S Type as she is approaching the 200K mark. The only reason I felt it time to change out the coils is after getting a misfire code on Cyl #4 (bad coil) about 3 months ago and just recently a misfire on Cyl #8 (same deal - bad coil)
I installed OES coils and NGK - double platnium spark plugs - all spark wells nice and dry (to my surprise and pleasure) After tightening everything up I start her up - she just didn't feel right - so I take her for a short drive and I get the dreaded flashing CEL...
I hook up my Matco Determinator scanner and I get a P0301B - misfire cyl #1 detected (pending)
After going crazy for a while taking the coil covers back off (which is a PIA) and switching out a coil and spark plug (I thought I may have cracked the insulator) - same deal - P0301B
Low and behold I decided to check the harness to the fuel injector - cyl #1 and sure enough - the plug was seated off the injector - the plastic tabs are so prone to breaking...
So, lesson learned - ensure your fuel injector plug is fully seated on the fuel injector - the slightest work in that area can loosen the plug... I put everyting back in place and voila! Mt cat is running nice and smooth...
