P0430 Cat Converter Code, Where to begin to fix this issue!

hey guys, I have the P0430 Cat Converter Bank 2 Threshold code like many s-type owners do. I would really like to know where to begin. I took my car to a local muffler shop to have my cats inspected and they checked out fine. The temperatures all read the same all the way through. They said that they would Fabricate both sides for $600 bucks. What is the most common issue with this fault code? Where should I begin? Changing the o2 sensors?

When you say the muffler shop "checked out the cats" did they disconnect them from the downpipes and visually inspect the honeycomb material in the cat converter to ensure for one - it's there and 2 it' not blocked?
No need to fabricate a cat converter - they are available via Ebay or www.rockauto.com and they are OEM equivalant replacements. By the way P0430 is the driver's side cat converter - why would you even be thinking about changing out the cat converter on the passenger side? Did OBDII show up with P0420 (cat converter efficiency - passenger side) if the P0430 code is all that came up - save your $$$ and do NOTHING with the passenger side cat converter...
As far as the O2 sensors go - Sometimes the downstream O2 sensor (past the cat converter) causes a P0430 code flag. Might be a good idea to change out the downstream O2 sensor on the driver's side - I would go about changing the other 3 eventually if your mileage is up there...

So do you think that I should go ahead and buy a eastern Cat converter? thats all that rockauto sells. Is it a direct fit? And with this p0430 code would you go ahead and just do the converter, or start by changing out the o2 sensors first and then doing the converter if the code dosent go away? thanks.
