P0741 Gearbox Fault+Laggy Acceleration in Overdrive

P0741 Gearbox Fault+Laggy Acceleration in Overdrive Just got a P0741 gearbox fault a few minutes ago while driving on the freeway normally at 65MPH. The past few weeks I have been experiencing some laggy acceleration in 5th and 6th gear when going up hills or in the very low rpms in some of the higher gears. I was assuming it was the coils (plugs replaced about 5-10K miles ago), but since there were no codes, I didn't have much to go by. Since about last week, the car has been shifting really hard from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, which I thought were related to the miss from the coils. Especially this week, the downshift lurch into first has gotten progressively harder. Occasionally, I will get a 5th to 6th flare up as well. So this P0741 doesn't really surprise me and now I am thinking my coils are fine, I just have a beat torque convertor. I have about 15 mile drive home, I am going to clear the gearbox code fault before I leave, and report back if it returns. If it does, then it looks like my bank account will have a tough christmas. Also the battery is about two weeks old from Bosch.

Update after about 25 miles of driving. I cleared the code, and the car went into super laggy mode where it drove like crap, felt like it lost 200hp and had 1000lbs added to the curb weight. Driving on the freeway last night and this morning the RPM's were reading very high, 6th gear at 70mph was almost 2200rpm or worse. The TQ seems to be "Flashy" where if you hit the gas it flashes up until it engages. The code has yet to return, but overall, I am still thinking something is up with the TQ. Also, the system is reading P1000, so all the checks have not yet completed which is fine but I am anxious for the system to complete all the checks. Ugh, jag sure picked a hell of transmission to put in this car.

Jack up the front of the car, drop your belly pan, and take a good look-see at the two transmission oil cooler lines. They develop leaks at the metal piping-to-rubber hose transitions. If this goes undetected for months, the ZF unit can lose enough ATF to cause the transmission performance to degrade significantly....
