my car hasnt started for almost a month now. since then ive replaced the TB with a brand new one. new plugs and coils, new upper intake gaskets, and new valve cover gaskets.
I've managed to clear 3 of the 4 codes that kept coming up, but now this 1586 wont clear even with a new tb and is still in failsafe mode and wont start.
do i need to get the failsafe mode cleared before its able to start or does any of you think it might be another prob altogether????
ive also tried doing a hard reset and that doesnt help either. idk. pretty frustrated

how do you check the fuel pressure? i did depress a valve stem in the fuel line and fuel came out. so theres at least pressure there. it was in front of the engine next to the air intake and tb.
jag8, are you talkin bout that elbow under the fuel rail?. (i forgot what thats called)ive read alot about that one. not sure which other ones your mentioning

+1 to a possible blocked fuel fiter or a DOA fuel pump - often you will find when these cars sit for a while (for some reason) the fuel pump dies a sudden death. Also, check the inertia switch under the dashboard - drver's side and listen for the "2 second woosh" when turning the ignition key to "run".
Fuel pressure at start up should be at least 40 psi - fuel should spray out of the fuel rail, not dribble - if it dribbles... this would lead to the fuel pump being DOA...
I would also check electrical connector to each fuel injector as well....ensure they are on real tight...Good Luck

i had towed to jaguar and they said that they want to swap the new tb for the old one. there thinkin its a bad tb which i highly doubt. but they cant even get the code to clear out. they reflashed the pcm and said it still wouldnt clear.
i ended up changing the fuel filter, although iit didnt work i still got a whole lot more out of it starting than i ever did before. i put some injector cleaner in there too, which i think helped as well.
does anybody know why a code wouldnt clear like that? even by reflashing the pcm?!

yeah I finally got it fixed. it ended up being the ECM. the jag dealer said he never seen one go out before. they found out by checking the ground points in the car and found out there was no ground coming out of the ECM to the coils. idk if that could b the prob but it wouldn't hurt to check.
