Default Painted calipers

Ok, so in keeping with the "Wolf in Sheep's clothing" theme I've got going on my '05 S-Type R, I decided to paint my big Brembo calipers a less noticeable color. Here are some before and after photos. Did with and without flash in the garage since it is an overcast and rainy day here.

Are you trying to make your STR look like a regular S Type?

Well mostly, yes. I will leave the spoiler on the back in place. and the front bumper/lower grille.

Personally I just love the calipers with the Jaguar logo .....think they look the bomb tbh.

I do know what you're trying to achieve though, making her look like a real "sleeper" then BAMMMM take that....lol

Directly above each first sentence (Personally ... & Sorry ...) there's an image that can't be viewed, with the text "Click the image to open in full size".

Looks like the image is in the mods-only area.

I like the idea of stealth. Try to find one of the ugly base model grills too! That is usually the first thing I look for to see if it is an R model or not!!

Jim,

I think the STR is very under the radar and much of a sleeper as it sits. 99.9% of people probably don't know that STR's exist let alone could be able to tell the difference between a base model and an R model. I would think the easiest way to make STR's even more like a sleeper would be to simply debadge the three emblems.

well, I have to respectfully say wash the paint off:-( sorry. Only certain people know the power of an R, and they don't come looking like the hot rod they are. They are certainly a wolf in sheeps clothing stock. Anything less just cheapens it up a bit. But if your happy, I guess more power too ya'

I believe he already has a basic grill... seems that way in his signature picture.

LOL, yes I have a stock grill. Albeit a nice chrome one. The nice thing about car forums is that we can all express our individual tastes and share ideas about our cars. I have owned many cars including some that shout "Look at me, I go Fast!". It's just that I always seemed to get challenged by the wannabe Honda racers or BMW tuners when they see any kind of sport edition vehicle. This way I choose to be under the radar of everyone and choose when to let them know what's under the bonnet.

I agree. Just the other day I was driving my friend's '06 mustang gt (pretty peppy and fun to drive actually) and she was saying how its a much sportier car and mines just a luxury sedan. At which point I politely informed her its a luxury sedan with a significant HP increase over her 'stang.

I've come to realize that 99% of people think jaguars are slow cars.

I think you should paint it dark charcoal/grey like the 3rd picture, and put a silver jaguar leaper decal on it, I think it'll look sweet with your setup.

I was considering decals and that sounds like a good idea.

Never got the whole "SLEEPER" concept, but to each his own, if you like it, I love it.

That's one of the best parts of the car is that people think its slow. They are driving their Camaro SS or Challenger SRT8 or whatever and they think they are the fastest thing in town. Then I line up next to them (at the drag strip, of course ), show them my tail lights, and watch them as they try to pick their chin up off the ground . I thought one guy's eyes were going to pop out of his head after I told him it only has a couple minor mods.

Being a car enthusiast, I love and have knowledge of about 95% of all performance cars on the road and never get caught by a wolf in sheep's clothing unless its modded. I've blew plenty of doors off myself in my SRT8 cause it's a Magnum and a wagon and not many knew that they even came in a high performance model. STR is the only car I've seen the least of on the road, I see more Lambo,s and Ferrari's on the road and since its debut, I've only seen two STR's on the road ever!!!

Yeah, my stoplight drag race days are long gone. I really just get a kick from having some guy in a Mustang or something roll past me on the highway and then get that look when I steadily pass them and keep on going. Of course it also seems to be invisible to law enforcement as well. Too many other bright flashy cars with loud exhaust, big chrome wheels and stripes/spoilers/scoops, etc. here on the Florida roads.
