I then fitted the new module with the new motor still plugged in, connected the battery again, and checked the dashboard, all warnings and faults had gone, including on the code reader.so I set about installing the new motor, followed WSM instructions apart I did not disconnect the propshaft, bit of a fiddle but the entire job took 2.5 hrs.
I then did the EPB rest procedure.
Doing the work myself saved £200 in labour costs.
I took a few pics to ensure all went back ok.
This was relatively easy in all honesty.

Thanks to everyone who sent advice/instruction and replied to plea for help.

Regards all Tony
Way to go Tony! Good strategy and great outcome. Thanks for filling us in on the whole story.

Cheers,

UPDATE**

Just an update, I bought the BOSCH 49-850B at pep boys less than 100$ -
Result all faults gone let sit still no faults, runs great! Actually now when the car sits for 2 days in the cold I notice a MUCH quicker startup, instead of a 2-3 crank it's near instant start upon key start dead cold. I can tell a very distinct difference. NOW MIND YOU THE OLD BATTERY TESTED IN THE ACCEPTABLE (GOOD RANGE) SO THE MORAL IS JUST CUZ IT TESTS OK DOESN'T MEAN IT IS STILL TOO WEAK FOR THIS CAR, BATTERY HAS TO BE TOP NOTCH SHAPE TO FUNCTION WELL! IM VERY HAPPY , THANKS YOU GUYS FOR THE ADVICE TO CHANGE BATTERY!!

this is why we have testers at the dealers that test cold cranking amps and compare to rating, not just voltage
