Default Parking Brake 2003 S-Type

I have a 2003 S-Type 3.0 with 55,000 miles.Yesterday, when I started the engine, there wasa yellow warning lightwhich stayed lit, along with a message "Park Brake Fault", and the ABS icon stayed lit. Once put in gear and movement was made, all of the above remained, but the park brake icon came on also, along with a constant beep. When I turned the engine off, there was nothing unless I pulled the park brake lever. Then the the park brake icon lit and there was a different beeping sound. When I pushed the park brake lever to turn it off, these quit. I took it to the Jaguar Dealer this morning when they opened. Late this afternoon when I checked, the (female)service manager told me that it required a "parking brake assembly", which they did not have in stock. They had ordered it overnight - hopefully to install tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this - or have any information which might help me when I deal with them? I wonder is it is in fact a parking brake module which is being replaced rather than "assembly"? Appreciate any info anyone can provide. Thanks.

Thanks for responding, jag_genius. I guess I'll see in the next few days just what is going on.I will post back with the results as soon as I get them, so maybe it can help someone else with the same problem. Guess I'm a little skeptical since they don't have the part at the Jag Dealer.

Not surprising that they don't have this part. Very uncommon problem!

Thanks - that reassures me a little of the local dealership.

Parking brake assembly replaced after I waited a week. I luckily got a rental car during that time and my after market warranty paid the entire cost of repair. Working properly for the past week.

My parking brake motor was replaced but I just had a nasty noise coming from the parking brake system when I pulled the key out and it turned on. No warning codes or lights.

I had the same problem. They replaced the brake actuator (under warranty) and it has been fine since.

Chris - I just sent you an email regarding cost, etc. Total cost at Jag Dealer was $556.28. They replaced the Park Brake Motor P/N #C2C-32957 ($282.00) Labor ($224.00) Disposal and Tax ( $50.28). Unless you have passed the total years warranty coverage under Jag Warranty, you should get this covered since you only have 17,000 miles. ????

I saw there was a recall on the '03 parking brake. However I'm not sure what parts are covered and it might be completely unrealated to the issues you guys are having...

I think this applied only to certain VIN's though from what I can see in the forums. Mine wasn't the right VIN - lol.
