Parking brake dashboard light stays on
Hi Guys,
I have a 2003 S-Type R. The dashboard parking brake indicator (which is shown as “BRAKE” written in red) stays on permanently. The parking brake appears to work fine. However, I do think the battery is getting drained as a result as I didn’t drive the car for a few weeks, went to do so the other day, and the battery was completely flat. Does any have any idea what is wrong?

Sounds like two issues:
1) For the BRAKE light, check the fluid level at the brake master cylinder. I believe that warning light has two purposes, to warn you if the parking brake is not released or if the brake fluid is low.
2) For your dead battery, make sure you properly recharge it. Don't just get a jump and expect all to be well. These cars are VERY sensitive to battery condition. Charge it at least overnight with an automatic charger of at least 10 amps output. A trickle charger won't cut it. After the battery is fully charged, have the battery checked. Most parts stores will do this for free. Make sure they use a capacitance-type tester for the most accurate results. This is the type that gives a 'battery health' reading (not just state of charge), typically displayed as a percentage.
If you don't drive the car much, please consider a battery minder to keep it topped off while not in use:
