Default Parking Brake light (again)

Well guys I have tried everything that this forum has thrown at this subject area, including the complex reset procedure a number of times, and that light and pesky parkbrake word is still there.

I threw £170 at Jag to look at it and they said they couldn't read the error codes, therefore they suggested starting at £500 to strip down the whole system, which I politely declined. They said that the parkbrake was activating correctly but the warning sign was still up.

I then went for the cheap option of replacing the switch in the cabin at a mere £35 but no its still there.

So onto the next purchase an Autoenginuity Giotto Proline VCI scantool also at a mere £450 plugged into a laptop which did seamlessly report back lots of information, and did also have the enhancements of parkbrake etc. But guess what, along with one or two other systems it reported on the parkbrake "no error code detected".

Frustrating or what.....

I done a MIL reset, and even a Parkbrake service reset, nope still there. So now I'm thinking it may be a module fault as some other systems, not all are reporting "no error code detected".

So if that's the case where do I start? I could take it to an indy who might know, but I suspect he will come up with the same head scratching conclusion.

BTW its a 2006 STR

Rather than throwing more money at tools and parts, raise the car, remove the wheels and have an assistant cycle the park brake while the mechanism is observed. Could be either caliper, either cable or the actuator.

Sometimes the warning light actually gets it right and indicates that something's broken.

Thanks Money, done that already the calipers move freely on actuation. I even took them off and lubricated the pivot and cable just in case it was binding. The jaguar dealer also confirmed that although he couldn't get the fault codes on his machine the park brake mechanism was working correctly.

I'd suspect an internal malfunction of the actuator then.
