Default Parrot ck3100 problem

Hi all,

I recently purchased this car and it had the ford motor company speakers fitted and also a parrot ck3100 bluetooth handsfree device, this worked fine with no problems whatsoever, could make and receive calls and sound came through the speakers, now i decided i would upgrade the speakers to alpine, so i fitted the subs in the parcel shelf the alpines in the doors and the amp in the boot, wow what a difference to the sound especially the DSP option, works great, however my parrot device doesn't make sound through the speakers anymore, i can still dial etc and receive calls but no audio, does this mean the parrot is wired into the wrong harness now? any idea what i am supposed to wire it too. looking online it should be connected via a harness adaptor to the head unit which ive not had a chance to verify yet if so do i have to buy a different harness for the alpine system.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

if you have reverted to alpine premium sound ? .
then you will have noticed you switched to different plugs in the doors to connect your speakers .
the parrot's measly 20w sound will still be running to the old plugs .
as the amp driving your alpines runs off the D2P fiber optic network .
not the wire outputs behind the stereo .

i guess you could connect your parrot to the amp speaker outputs .
but as far as i am aware the parrot intercepts the stereo output, and rebroadcasts it with its crappy 20w amp ,
if so , that will put you right back at square one (sound quality wise).
with the exception of added subs .
if you want to persevere with the parrot the easiest way would be to cut and swap the alpine speaker plugs to the head unit output speaker wires in the doors . at the cost of quality sound (imo)as the jag amp will no longer drive the door speakers .

Hi Robby,

My STR came with a Parrot CK3100 already wired in. Mine has the premium sound & the speakers work fine. The sound is also muted when receiving/making calls. I've txt the guy I bought it off, to see if he recalls what he did when fitting it, but it was 2 years ago so I may not get a reply. I'm thinking an adapter kit is the way to go, or get a good auto electrician.

Sorry, we don't know who fitted the Parrot. Good luck with it.

In my XJR, with premium audio I have the Parrot system with a separate speaker installed under the dash.

work fine but have you compared the parrot sound to premium sound .
its night and day .

abonano's set up makes far more sense ! as you get to keep your premium sound this way .

You misunderstand. My premium sound works just fine & the Parrot works through it.

... & Yes, a separate speaker sounds like a great solution

firstly im not mistaken .
ok , so you are 50% correct . in that yes your premium sound is functioning .
but only whilst using the factory jaguar devices , e.g cd , cdc , radio , or for some mini disk.
but when the parrot is functioning e.g phone calls , aux in , mp3 . itunes.
it disconnects the premium and uses its own 20w x 2 or 20w x 4 amplifier .

i am under no delusion its a clever kit . but sub standard for aux in when compared to the premium amp's capabilities .

i just phoned my good friend who owns and runs a car stereo shop .
for the last 18 years
who has fitted and repaired hundreds of these parrots .
and he backs me up with my understanding .
and said also the separate speaker set up like aboano's is his preferred set up
for D2P premium audio set ups .

Thank you & I now understand it doesn't use the car amp however, the sound quality for phone calls really is just fine.

I originally posted because the question appeared to be about using Alpine speakers with the Parrot. My car does so I posted that it is possible.

yep your correct the parrot will run almost any car speaker/s with in reason .
and phone calls don't require awesome grunt .
but i'm a bit of a big stereo buff. and the parrot just will not do .
at least if you want aux in with premium or upgraded sound .
its too weak , and in my ears too weak for the alpine premium speakers also.
especially all four .
let alone anything upgraded such as my pioneer 350w 6x8 rears
and 225w kicker 6x8 fronts .
which all run sweet off the stock premium amp .
