Phone module
Does any one have a 2003 S TYPE R with Nav ? The old analog phone system in not able to be activated and JAG REFUSES TO UPDATE THE PHONE MODULE FREE OF CHARGE , THEY DON'T FEEL OBLIGATED TO KEEP THERE CARS UP TO DATE !!!! How do we get our phones to work with this Alpine nav system ?

RE: Phone module
Well, I have an 03 STR and am in the process of retrofitting NAV (Denso system), but I can tell you that my car was prewired for bluetooth. So if yours is it can be fitted, but if it is not prewired, then it is difficult. I acutally have a Jaguar OEM bluetooth kit that was made for all X/S types prewired or not, and it works great. Just plugs into the factors harness. It was only about $300 and I installed it myself. Real easy to do if you can find one!

RE: Phone module
Well, I have my kit fitted now and I don't have nav right now. I goT this kit ofF eBay since it's way more from the dealers. It doesn't use the buttons on the radio for phone but it uses the steering wheel voice button to activate and answer calls. So far so good with it, haven't really had any problems short of the odd time haveing to make the call twice since it didn't go through the first time but that rarely happens and I don't mind since it's not that big of a deal to just do it again if you have the number stored. I will be selling my kit in a month or so once I get my nav in since I am installing the OEM bluetooth since my car is prewired for it already.

RE: Phone module
No manufacturers that I know of offer to keep their phone systems updated free of charge. Cell phones and their software change on a daily basis. It would bankrupt the car companies to do that. Even if you have the bluetooth module they wont gaurantee it will work with every phone. Even if your phone has worked for the last 3 months the phone company could update their software and it may not work tomorrow. Not jaguars problem.

I have a 2003 S-Type R, but when I hit the Phone button on the console around the command screen, it just says "Phone not fitted." All the controls and buttons and such are there for it, but I don't know what's under the hood, so to speak. I'd really like to get it set up with a bluetooth interface that's at least as good as the one on my Garmin Nuvi 770. At least I'd like to be able to answer and make calls, but I'd really like to be able to scroll through my address book and recent calls list using the command screen and to have the name and number pop up on the command screen when the phone rings (muting the stereo while it does it) and displaying incoming text messages. Maybe even be able to send text short messages. Is this kind of thing possible without some wacky imported European product and tearing the entire interior up?
I would LOVE that.
I would also love the ability to connect and control my iPhone's iPod via the command screen.
Why did all this stuff have to become more popular AFTER 2003?
