Hey Inkjeter and Wuzupez, great to hear of your new toys! I bought my STR 2 years ago on eBay, sight unseen from California, and had it shipped to Canada. Just love the car.

You might like to check this post for some early info:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...t-forum-69737/

Most of my problems have been with burst upper coolant hoses, so I have just changed the whole lot. Also, as a precaution, I replaced the DCCV, coolant tank, thermostat and thermostat housing. All because of info from this forum.

You're will really enjoy your STR's.

yes, a leap of faith for sure, never done that before.....im hoping for the best, the guy i bought it from seemed pretty straight up , plus when someone buys a warranty they are more apt to take the car in for service.....

Well I just got home with my STR! Super happy thus far! Averaged 21.4mpg on the 3 hour drive home! Guess it's better than I expected being how I did 80mph the majority of the drive. And of course held her to the floor on a few different occasions! The one thing I'm concerned with is the headlight leveling thing. How do I know if my car is equipped with this feature or not? Cause they don't adjust up or down when you turn the lights on or off. Just stay affixed in one position

Your head lights should auto level when you put the key in the ignition and turn it so that the radio and other electronics come one. They do not auto level each time you manually turn your lights on. Wait until the evening and have your lights set on auto. When you put the key in and turn it so the electronics turn on you will see your lights auto level if they are working properly. Hope this helps.

Is there a way to watch movies on the nav screen? I know most car manufactures don't allow this feature or option. But there is always ways around it. I know on Toyota/Lexus you can bypass it. As well as Cadillac!

Nope! At least I haven't seen anyone accomplish it.

I have managed 27mpgs on the highway by keeping it at 60mph on flat highway.

You can watch movies by adding a suitable TV (etc) device but not wonderfully cheap so are you really sure you want to?

The cheap way is to put DVD/etc players in for the back passengers (like the jag ones that fit in the headrests).

I wonder if your intake and high flow cats help your car breathe a little easier

congrats Wuzupez , i got a call from the truck driver letting me know he would be at my house at 3:30 am today,,,,he was and my jag was unloaded... its as advertised with no discernible issues that i can find...yet... i was pleasantly surprised to see it had the black leather and not the dark gray....it got its first wash at 4 am this morning as it looked like i had driven it from New York.....the only real issue i see is the calipers look like they have been boiled with zero paint left ...also head lights appear to be different colored hids, bulb might be going out,, will need to replace...

Yeah I keep hearing that one ...

AFAIK there's only one explanation for this, a computer miscalculation.
My computer is pretty accurate and matches my hand calculations so unless my odometer is grossly in error I can think of no other explanation for the similar mileage I get as mentioned by the OP.

Typically 21.x is the best I can get and if it's a very long trip on straight level roads I can eek out 23 for a while at least. But 25-27 no way in hell.

It's a conundrum because I don't disbelieve folks who claim this it just can't be done in my car.

You aren't using gas without ethanol are you?

Yes there is but it's mucho expensive. A place in Florida has a system that will allow for things like that plus a backup camera. Think well over $1K though.

Well I pulled the car in the shop today on my lunch break to really look her over. Transmission lines were leaking pretty good as well as both real axle seals. Not really sure how this was over looked from the dealer but it was. Looks like I will be going back this week. Ugh 3 hour drive each way...... Wonder if they will reimburse my fuel and tolls both ways for the inconvenience.....
