I checked them out, British Parts International (britishparts.com) they seem pretty decent. What kind of prices do you have on a 4.0 rebuild kit with just bearings, rings, seals, gaskets, etc.? And can you get 4.0 pistons, rods, and cranks?

Angry to voice my opinion on ur question!!!!!

so im sorry if it seems like im an *** lol! an hour ago i just signed up im another NEWBIE! i found a screamin deal on a 2001 stype for $1500 today excellent sweet condition and im pickin it up tomorrow. I see the point in ur question i have been on my laptop and calling every gearhead that i know for the past 6 hours cause i have never owned nor worked on a jag a day in my life. i need some answers as well. my seller was on a dirt road headin home and slid of the road in a freshly plowed spud field level with the road. he stopped and creeped the car back on the road. he said when he got on the road he could hear a tick (like an exhaust leak) he drove the car 3 more miles to his house which by that time was knocking pretty bad. ANY IDEAS? I'd love to hear suggestions. they took the oil pan off and said everything LOOKS OK. but its knocking hard. so ive been up all night trying to find a crank, rods, bearings, and a full engine gasket kit. all i can find are (crankshaft searches) crank seals & crank sensors and half the gasket kit. WHERE IN THE HECK CAN I BUY WHAT I NEED!!!! All i can find is 3.0 crap EVERYWHERE!

Get a used engine. You will spend HUGE amounts of money trying to do a rebuild and the car is just not worth anything. Also you have the early V-8 which means it has the old style timing tensioners which will wear and fail destroying the engine. So plan on putting the 3rd generation timing stuff on.

Good luck but you just purchased a money pit.
