Default Please Help Fuel Problem

2001 Jaguar 3.0 S-type
I have replace the fuel pump, fuel filter and all fuses and car will not start. I can forced fuel into the fuel line and the car will run fine. After getting the car started, I can drive it as far as I like. However, when I let the car sit for a couple of hours, the car will not start, unless I force fuel into the fuel line again. Can someone please help because this car is driving me crazy

Oh, after the car sits for a couple of hours, it looses all pressure in the fuel line at the valve on the fuel line

After it sits for 3 hours, when you turn the key does it just crank away and not turn over or nothing when you turn the key? How old is your battery? Add some of these things and might get some response.

Yes, the car cranks just fine, there is nothing wrong with the battery. The car just will not start unless I force fuel back into the fuel line

Have you checked the fuel pressure at the schrader valve? JagRepair.com - Fuel Pressure Test If so what is the pressure. If fuel pressure is nonexistent and you recently replaced the fuel pump for the same reason I suggest you begin tracing the power to it. Replace the fuel pump relay with another relay and see if it starts. Doing that will transfer the problem to another location so be sure you replace the bad relay. This oneline for your car should help http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa...x2022001en.pdf See if this helps.

Gus, referencing that manual in pdf format for this guy and posting a link to it is fantastic.

Don't forget to reset the inertia switch. They can sometimes trip and you don't know it.

Does the fuel pump run? Just cycle the key on and off without cranking the car. If you can't hear it get someone to listen under the car around the bottom of the back seat. The pump should run for several seconds every time the key is turned on.

The inertia switch is installed next to the fuse box in the LH end of the fascia. When activated, it de-energizes the ignition relays in the engine compartment, driver's side fascia and trunk fuse boxes. It also removes ground inputs from the BPM and windshield wiper stalk switch. This stops the engine and fuel pump, unlocks any locked door, and de-energizes unnecessary electrical systems. The switch is reset by pressing down on the rubber cap on the top of the switch. If your doors lock, windows, seats and the wipers work and the dash lights up then all should be good, but if it makes you feel better reset the inertia switch.

I am kind of sure it's not the inertia switch because I can start the car if I force fuel into the fuel line. The car will run just fine as long as I am driving it. But as soon as I turn it off and let it sit for about an hour, it will not start again unless I force fuel into the fuel line again. The car cranks just fine, no battery or starter issues.

Gus;
The JTIS says it just shuts the power off to the fuel pumps. Where did you find all the other things?

I'm going to check the inertia switch again today. I'm also going to test every fuse in the car to make sure nothing is blown. The put does come on when I turn the key for s few seconds. I'm thinking maybe the replacement pump I put in from autozone may be defected by being to weak. I may have to break down and put the car into the shop

I checked the voltage at the pump. I unplugged the connector to the pump. I turned the key to the on position and used my voltimeter at the four connectors. Two was no voltage and one showed 12.25 voltage, and the other showed around 10 voltage. was that within specs

It sounds like you have voltage to the plug but I do not know what it is for. Did you look at the color of the wires you were reading and is it the feet to the pump? If you are unsure look at the wiring diagram for your 2001 3.0 http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa...x2022001en.pdf look at 3.2 Page 51.
