please help me make a good decision

ok so a private seller near me whom I don't know personally has an ad out for a 2000 S-type jaguar for $3000. grey exterior, leather, everythings in great condition.... except that it doesnt have a motor.

my question is... how much is a new one going to cost me? whats the best places to look around for one, and do you have to have a SPECIFIC type of motor for this vehicle? (im not sure if its v6 or v8) and if not can you replace it with an equalv6 or v8 that's not specific to the jaguar? (like from a ford vehicle or something).

any other infopertaining to the matter would be greatly appreciated (is it worth the time, work, and money to try and get this thing going?)

I would walk away....and fast...

Parts for Jag is very expensive and parts are hard to find
Labor is very expensive
You don't know what you need and what he took....computers...PCM, ECM, etc..(they are all matched to your key and car) One computer from any other Jag, same year, same engine, will NOT work for yours.

Engine alone is 10K+ (new)
Trans is 7K+ (new)
and whatever else you need....radiator, condenser, A/c...and other miscellaneous..roughly another 4-5K

Your total approx 20K for a 3K dollar car, plus time and not including labor

You can go out and buy a nice used RUNNING S type for like maybe 10-12K

Like i said...walk away and don't look back....
