Default Possible DRL's

My STR came from the USA, and the headlights and tail-lights have been set to turn on with the ignition so as to comply with Canada DRL regulations. I hate the hours of wear and tear on the expensive HID's, and plan to instal separate DRL's, but I don't want to mess too much with the Jag's appearance.

Below is a pic of the preferred arrangement. Two 5-watt LED's, waterproof, nominal lifetime 50,000 hours, all duct-taped into place and fired up from my battery charger so I can preview the appearance before going ahead.

Would appreciate your opinion on the plan. The DRL's will turn on with the ignition, and the main light switch will be set to "Auto".

You should be OK but be aware that you are blocking the two engine oil coolers and we do not have an oil temp gauge.

Don't know if it will increase oil temperatures or not?

Thanks guys, those comments much appreciated. The lights are only about 2" in diameter, leaving plenty of room for airflow to the coolers. Nevertheless, may decide to switch from semi-synthetic to full synthetic oil.

Well, I had a read of the requirements, which call for visible lighting at the front of the car during daylight hours.

Those 2 lights are quite bright, so we shall see...

Well, that's 5 votes in favor, 0 against, all I wanted to see!

Inkjeter, the 2 lights together are only 10 watts, and they were advertised as DRL and fog lights, so not a big draw on battery and just might come in handy at night.

At $20 each, I ordered one extra as a spare, since they are made in you-know-where.
