Default Power steering fluid leak

2003 Jaguar S-TYPE 4.2 liter V8. Today I jacked up the car removed the front wheels assuming that the power steering hoses were leaking. Well I was wrong. After cleaning power steering fluid from underneath the car I started the car and moved the steering wheel back and forth. Found that the right hand side of the rack was leaking from the boot. Ordered refurbished one and untill it gets here the car is grounded. Could see that fluid was leaking and getting on the right catalytic converter. looks pretty forward to replace well thats my story and i'm sticking to it. If anyone has any suggestions to help me when i change it thursday it will be appreciated. Car has 133,000 mi on it.

total price including shipping $267 from detroit axle. Came with a lifetime warranty as soon as you ship back the one you take out which is included in the price. They give you a return label Fedex shipping. Jaguar dealer quoted me 1100 for new onr. Good luck

I have had amazing results from Lucas power steering leak stop, or whatever they call it. My son's XJ8 was leaking very badly, and with little to lose I tried this product, and the leak has stopped!

It's only been a week now, and I'll advise if it starts leaking again, but so far so good.

Where are the leaking seals in these S-Type power steering racks? The rubber boots on both sides of my rack are clean and dry, but there was some gelled reddish-brown fluid collected in my belly pan when I removed it this afternoon to take a good look at my compressor (I'm also having A/C issues). I suspect a power steering fluid leak although my reservoir remains full all the way to the top line where I've always kept it. I poked around with my flashlight underneath the car as well as in the engine bay but I can find no obvious leak sources. Any advice from those of you who've already done this repair would be much appreciated....

Jon, I have been racking my brain but here's another thought, might be a long shot but..... I recall a couple of fellows in the past that had leaking motor mounts. I just can't remember the color of the leaking fluid. May be worth a look there too.

I was just thinking about the motor mounts as an outside possibility, Rick. Hopefully someone will chime in about how much fluid they tend to leak, where it usually dribbles down and collects, and what color the fluid is. Where's Brutal when we need him....

It's raining here now so I left the car up on my ramps in the driveway. If the rain clears up overnight, I'll crawl under the car again tomorrow with my flashlight and explore a bit more....

Thanks for your suggestion....

Update:

The techs in our local Jaguar dealership service department say that the fluid inside my motor mounts is purple in color. So that appears to rule out the motor mounts as the source of the fluid that showed up on my belly pan yesterday....
