LOL! Was it a convertible? I call my '85 the car that shouldn't be here... I know there are fans of the K, but that thing is horrible... But I love it all the same. Hardly any left at all. Funny for a car that was so iconic in the '80's. Plenty of '80's Camaros and Mustangs left...Almost no turbo K's... And probably none of the convertibles left that still have the original top and absolutely no cracks in the leather anywhere.

Guy up in front of me has a red one sitting in the back yard. It's his daughter's car. He asked me about fixing the rotted out rocker panels a couple years ago. I told him it wasn't worth it and furthermore it wasn't safe to drive.
So the grandfather is related to a friend of mine that also has a bodyshop. He shows up there with it and my friend tells him the same thing. It would be bad enough if it was a coupe but being a convertible, the rockers are kinda important. It gets hit and it will fold up like a wet napkin. It's been sitting there for about 6 weeks now. Looks like a WV lawn ornament. Anyone wants a worthless project, I'd be glad to inquire about it.
I had some K Cars but didn't feel the need to include them. LOL Some I bought to resell. They were all wrecks I bought and fixed up. What was neat was that under the skin, most all the parts interchanged. Had a 87 Daytona Pacifica the wife drove for a while and the same year Lebaron Cpe Turbo. They ran pretty good once you waited a couple days for the turbo to spool up. Not the greatest cars ever made but I've seen much worse. The shared platform and the popularity of the minivan brought Chrysler back from bankrupcy. Rather ingenius on the part of Mr Lee Iaccoca.

Bummer.. even though they are a derivative, I have discovered that there is really nothing common between the "round" Lebaron and the older "box" K specials... Yes, that is what they are called... K specials....

Yikes. Let me skeleton the list and then go back to see if I remember enough!
Mini (1.0 litre 1972, manual - for school)
VW Jetta 1.3 (working life car. Should never have sold it really)
Audi 200 auto non-turbo (mk 1 super-square version. 3 speed auto!!!)
Rover Sterling 2.5 auto (150mph! gold, though. Inside and out. Not a good look)
Alfa 75 3.0 (Red. 155mph. 15,000 miles in a year. Loved it)
Citroen CX GTi Turbo 2 (just the most amazing driving experience - but fresh oil every 3000 miles and tyres at £250 a corner put me off)
Citroen BX GTi 1.9 (zero-cost thrasher. Immense fun. Carried tons of stuff... another one I should have kept)
Citroen XM 2.0 Turbo auto
Citroen Xantia 2.0 auto (partners car)
Citroen Xantia 3.0 v6 auto (loved the 2.0 so much I got the 3.0, which is INSANE)
BMW 740 (very large barge. Couldn't sit in the seats comfortably)
Mercedes/AMG C43 (FANTASTIC. deep-chested, mean turn of speed)
Mercedes/AMG E55 (W210) (the original non-supercharged version. Chased Lotus Elises on slicks up swiss mountain passes. Still wonder where this one is today)
Mercedes CL500 (W215) (smooth, great economy for a 5.0, but BIG. As in, ludicrously awkwardly big)
Mercedes E500 Sport Estate (Still got it. 24mpg is a bit of a shock, especially after the CL)
Mercedes A200 Turbo (Brilliant fun for a town car, but dire on fuel whether in town or not, and HARD ride, even after the AMGs)
S-Type Sport 2.7 Manual (much better fuel, much softer ride... what's not to like?)
Mini (1.0 litre 1972, manual - for school)

I can relate. Back when they were newer cars and I was rebuilding them, they changed little things from year to year. Engine ancillaries, suspension pieces, K members. Many times there was no apparent reason. I often wondered if Chrysler did it on purpose to foil people like me from fixing with used parts.
The best I remember was the Dodge Omni. I built a lot of them and had one for my DD several years. They completely redesigned the instrument panel and steering wheel in 1990 along with some changes to the front inner structure. But they never made them in 91 1990 was the end. So why pend all the money for redesign and tooling? Stuff like that makes me wonder. BTW, they were one of my favorite little cars. Haul stuff in the back like a truck, went like a tank in the winter and really easy on gas. Have we really gained that much ?

I guess, just like people.... The car population needs to go on a diet!

Unfortunately I lost all the pics of my old Mosselman/Carlsson turbo'd Mercedes C Class a while ago after my hard drive crashed. But here is my old CLK430 with minor mods limited to staggered 18" Brabus wheels, H&R springs, and a built in and integrated Passport radar/laser detector....
Here is my old WRX wagon - that thing was absurdly quick and so much fun to drive! I have humbled many cars with it and miss it a lot.
WRX Aftermarket Parts (partial list only)
-Cobb AccessPort Stage 2 (set for 93 octane)
-PDE catless uppipe
-Helix catless downpipe
-Pony Express CEL eliminator
-Perrin Performance Crank Pulley
-STi short shift kit
-Prodrive oval tip exhaust
-Prodrive lowering springs
-Prodrive / OZ Racing 17" wheels

Too many to go through over the years.
From year 2000, here are some photos of my 3 Rover 75's, " saloons with the last one being a Tourer. Sadly Rovers are no long manufactured, I purchased my S-type in October 2006.
All the Rover's were great cars and served me very well indeed, hardly any problems at all.
The S-Type is the longest I've kept a car and at the moment see no reason to change it.
Rover 75 Classic SE, Colour Dorchester Red
Rover 75 Club SE Colour Arden Green.
Rover 75 Club SE Tourer. Colour White Gold.
Jaguar S-Type 2.5 V6, Manual Gearbox. Colour Zircon Blue.
Regards,
Inver.
