Puzzling bluetooth
Hi all,
My iPhone detects and apparently connects with a Bluetooth installation in my S Type called "Jaguar".
When I press the telephone button on the touchscreen fascia I get the message "No phone attached".
Please can anybody explain what my iPhone is linking with?
Thank you

I'm sorry if I confused you.
Your reply suggested that either a Jaguar dealer or Jaguar themselves could provide a printout.
I was asking you how to get such a thing from Jaguar as I haven't yet formed a relationship with my local dealer.
Not at all sure what you meant by "actually do something"?

Do you have a touchscreen or regular console. Here is a message that has pairing instructions. It was from my XJ8L manual but they should work for S-Types. You may have to go down a few posts to get the pairing instructions. Recommend you add your S-Type year and model type to your signature block.

Thank you for that
My car has the touchscreen.
My phone did initially receive a pairing instruction and, I assume, correctly paired with whatever there is on my car. It still connects everytime I start the car but I can't see where to go from there
I thought I had already added my car details to my sig block but... clearly not.
I shall do that straight away. Then settle to read the contents of the link you've given me.

OK,
Time for a reappraisal of the problem.
I contacted Jaguar and they readily gave me a printout (thanks for that suggestion BTW) of what my car was specified with, which included "Bluetooth telephone connection"
My iPone 6 bluetooth can see th "Jaguar" Bluetooth but if fact, cannot pair, presumably because I need to enter the code on the touchscreen keypad beforehand.
I cannot enter codes because when I press the telephone button beside the touchscreen I get the message "No phone fitted".
Clearly, there must be a Bluetooth module because my iPhone sees its identity broadcast.
SO I need to find out why my phone sees the Jaguar Bluetooth but the Jaguar setup apparently doesn't see my phone.
Does anybody have any ideas please?

A 2007 Jaguar and a 2014 iPhone - not a match made in technology heaven!
The Jaguar Bluetooth Connectivity Centre ........
Vehicles - Jaguar
....... only lists pairing instructions up to iPhone4 and even that with limitations.
I'd suggest first eliminating a possible issue with the vehicle Bluetooth installation by pairing with an older Bluetooth phone if you have one available.

Four different phones tried now with same result.
Actually, a friend commented that, according to the instructions, when you press the telephone button by the touch screen, the display should present you with the on-screen telephone key pad before you even switch your phone on.
I know I have the Bluetooth module because my iPhone sees it. I know the microphone is there (and working because Jaguar Voice works) I know, after having retrofitted the CDC, that the phone module is there behind the Kaiser bracket.
I also know the D2B network is OK because after I fitted the CDC everything (except the phone) worked
I'm having an auto electrician friend take a look and if he can't see the problem it'll have to be Stratstone.

Problem solved. After letting the local dealership charge me the thick end of £100 for the privilege of them completely mis-diagnosing the problem, and offering to fix it for a mere £991, I bought a phone module from fleabay for £11 and it now works perfectly with my Iphone 6. Happy bunny I am
Thanks to all those who offered useful advice.

The problem wasn't with the fact that I have an iPhone 6. Any other Bluetooth enabled phone I tried had the same problem.
There are three modules in the Bluetooth system. My phone could detect the Jaguar Bluetooth so it wasn't the Bluetooth module so it had to be the phone module, more correctly known as Portable Support Electronic Unit. This is located behind the Kaiser panel on my S Type and has a part number:- 2W93-19K350-AE. As far as I'm aware the last two letters in the part number are not critical. The replacement module I used had AC rather than AE and it works perfectly.
Hope that helps
